If the Rice & Cullinan rumour is legit, i think you'll find Cullinan back @ Marcellin pretty soon....... He'll miss the drink cards at Next Blue too much......

That's not the only incentive he'll be missing...

Both Daniel and Joel are still unsure where they are playing next year, they
have had several offers to play from clubs both in Victoria and W.A and are weighing up their options. At the moment nothing has been signed so unsure where you got your info Guinea, as I have spoken to both recently.

As I stated in an earlier post BDobbo, I caught up with Dan Cullinan at Blue on Saturday night. I asked him what he was doing with his footy next year and he said (word for word) - "Joel Rice and I are both signing at West Perth, leave to start preseason in a couple of weeks..." I then said "I know a bloke who plays there - Ben Anderson." To which his curteous reply was "no s h i t. He's the bloke that we will be living with when we're over there". i then shook his hand, wished him all the best with the brunette he was tuning and left.

Obviously, you know him a lot better than I do, from what he said to me I thought it was a done deal, and actually thought he must have told Marcellin that he was leaving (that was the impression that I got, anyway).

How's your cousins knee coming along?

My cousins knee is going well he thinks he will be back for round 1 next year he has put on some bulk and looking for a big year.

Well the Dan and Joel havent made a choice either way yet, hopefully they stay but if they go, good luck to them both. Very good footballers and would play well over there

Surprising he was only tuning one girl thats not the DC we all know!!!

Never said he wasn't tuning more than one...but it was definitely a brunette he was talking to at that stage...unofficial reports suggest he may have been seen enquiring to the availability of a couple of others earlier in the night... in fact, given the fact I'm quite male-ish looking, I was surprised that he even sacrificied a valuable 5min tuning time to speak to me..

your cousin's rehab must have gone really well if he reckons he's a chance to play round 1. As a maggies supporter I don't know if I want him to bulk up too much though, we need his dash from the backline.

Spoke to Dan Cullinan at Blue on Saturday night. He'd been to the races, and no doubt had sunk a few, but said he and Ricey were leaving in a couple of weeks to sign for West Perth and begin pre-season there. The big fella looks like he could use a decent pre-season! I also know that it's a fact because he said he's moving in with ex-rochester player, Ben Anderson, who I know well, and who also confirmed this.

Just fielded a phone call from an irate D.Cullinan who wishes to state that, yes, he and Joel Rice have received an offer from West Perth, but NO decision has been made as to their playing future in 2006. He also suggested that Guniea focus on his impending nuptials rather than spreading untruths.

Is it true that the great Danny Byrne has/is packing his bags and heading west next year??

Although he played at Geelong last year, he kept in touch with matters VAFA.

One of the best blokes you would ever likely meet.

A move to Perth may be a good thing given his alcohol and drug addiction.

Marcellin news . . . Senior Coach Vaughan Cleary has been re-appointed for 2006. After an 11-win season in 2005, 2006 is shaping up to be an exciting year where the club has high aspirations with Vaughan at the helm. All players should look for a letter in the mail shortly outlining details of two (2) pre-Christmas training sessions

The litigators are watching. I'd remove that post if I were you.

For all those that don't know, Danny Byrne doesn't drink, smoke or take drugs as far as I know. It was a light hearted dig my friend. Pretty admirable considering the culture of most footy clubs.

He does like to smoke bat though... or at least likes the taste of it!!!

Doubt that Eddie, i am going to predict Marcellin to go down next year, plenty of troubles from what i am led to believe.

Lot of VAFA big names were getting about in the Nursery on Saturday and all the talk was of Marcellin to do the drop.

Bigger rumours than that floating around the nursery on Derby Day.

Apparently on the VAFA under 23 trip to Ireland recently Rice and Cullinan (both on a gut full of alcohol) were spruiking the $400 per game match payments they were getting this season from the Eagles. Apparently the VAFA have got wind of it and sent a "please explain" Bulleen way.

I too heard this disturbing piece of information. If proven, I think we might find the Eagles in B Section a year early.

I'd be interested to hear what VAFA reps Scribe and Scribe2 have to say about this.....

Considering that Rice pushed trolleys all year @ Coles to fund his trip and the club put on a Trivia night to raise funds for the boys, whoever started this rumour must have been smoking too many plants in the nursery on Saturday. Anyone who has any knowledge of Marcellin would know the club operates on a shoestring as it is, so to fork $800 per game for 2 players would just about wipe out the club financially.......... Also not sure why you'd nominate the club that won 11 games in 'A' grade and won the U19 GF by 10 goals without their best 5 players as certs to be in 'B' grade in '07.......especially considering there's a few who didn't play in '05 that may be back in '06......

Consider this- if Marcellin couldn't keep Chubba Dineen (albeit at age 30) and Marc Browne from going for $$$, then it'd be a fair bet they weren't slipping stuff under the table would it?

As Secretary of the Old Trinity FC (i.e. not a VAFA Rep thanks Benny! :D ) this disturbing piece of information should probably be viewed in the context of being a throw-away comment from players who may be considering $$$ in the WAFL, but might look to Marcellin for work opportunities commensurate or above $10K for a year.

They were pi$$ed, probably stretching the truth a fair way out of proportion, but it probably warrants a response from Marcellin in order to "clear the air" somewhat.

It is a disturbing rumour that came out of the All-Australian under 23 tour and believe me, it is doing the rounds of the VAFA, everybody is talking about it.

I hope for the players involved, Marcellin and the VAFA, that it's not true.

But if it is, I say S.H.A.M.E

I also note that the VAFA has delayed the release of the 2006 fixture, could an investigation into this rumour be the reason.

If I'm not mistaken, that means Collegians could replace Marcellin in A Section.

As a teammate & good friend of Dc and Ricey I can inform you that they certainly didnt get paid to play last year at Marcellin. I spent to many nights out with Daniel shouting him jager bombs as he was short of cash.

It's amazing how people can come on and make up false accusations with no basis whatsoever.

As Scribe has informed we were unable to keep two state reps the year before due to $$$ also Chubba is only 27.

So Benny I dont think you will see Marcellin down in B grade this year of for that matter in the near future as the future looks very promising with so many under 19 players coming through.

Just a rumour I heard. Personally, the rumours about the pair heading to WA for $$ is probably not helping, and the fact that Cullinan was all but gone before 2005 to EFL for $$$ and Rice was enticed down from Box Hill.... Only saving grace is that they went to the school.

Also, if my memory serves me correctly, I was aware that Cullinan used to have a manager when playing 2's for Werribee and in some basketball competition. Does he still have a manager?

Benny Benny Benny

Daniel was never going anywhere last year there was a big offer on the table from Eltham in the DVFL that was it. Joel went down and trained at Box Hill but by his own admission enjoys playing footy with his mates in my opinion should be looking at VFL as a stepping stone to the big time.

Daniel from what I know had a manager back in Werribee days, who is a family friend & certainly hasnt had one for basketball

Thank you for clarifying that. Makes more sense now.
