OK Scribe, if you want to encourage some banter, why don't you provide some goss on your club. They were dangerously close to going down to B Grade last year after making a prelim the year before. Any wholesale changes for next year? Rambo leaving? 'The Big Cat' to Collegians?

Geez - I throw a joke rumour out there (re: Ramsden) and it comes back to haunt me.

OK:

1. Rambo staying, most likely as co-captain.

2. Big Cat also staying, but will join in pre-season proper when he returns from assignment in Sydney

3. Carlson has retired from coaching and Phil Gaut (assistant '99 to '03, and co-senior coach '04/'05) was appointed the sole senior coach after 9 other applicants were considered. Assistant senior and reserves roles will be filled in the next two weeks. U19s coach is still Leo Curran. Club XVIII coach is a while away.....

4. About five overseas/work departures from the 2004 senior prelim side (T. Healy, P. Gnatt, Andrews, R. Burrows and McKinnon) have indicated they are going to return. How many others follow their lead remains to be seen. Given the coaching adjustment, more may follow.

5. I'm not privy to the recruiting side at present (already got enough on my plate) but will no doubt be filled in tomorrow night at our Committee Meeting.

6. Off-field we've got a new president and secretary, with a returning treasurer, and a couple of younger guys going onto the committee

Finally, yes, we were very fortunate to stay up as our injury list was never long and we played fewer guys in the seniors throughout the year than we can recall. There's a surprisingly good vibe amongst the group after a difficult year, so hopefully we can ensure the bulk of this years' list remains (Champ's the only confirmde retiree) and they worker harder, earlier, to ensure we don't have a repeat of '05. We don't need 31 year-olds winning all the pre-season time trials!!

ALPHONSE TO LEAVE THE GILLON?
Rumours persist about big $$$ offers from a number of EDFL clubs for the services of NOBSPC king-pin Alphonse. After five years in purple & white (soon to be purple, white, blue & green), word has it that the creative midfielder has become frustrated by a lack of senior opportunities and is considering taking the serious coin that the ramshackle EDFL B-Grade clubs are throwing at him. Is he really worth $300 a game???????????????????

This is huge news. I'd heard a rumour that he had been talking to Xavs. They were offering him some big coin to come and play. Luckily I was able to tell him not to go anywhere near them on an account of them having just too many ordinary blokes down there.

Then one of my sources told me that they had seen him on the weekend training with a team made up of mostly doctors. WTF!!!!

Thank you Cameo King, the rumours are true (and hardly surprising) about big cash offers but Alphonse will be staying put and is excited about the opportunities C Grade presents. NOBSPC inaugural coach will be announced later today and we are confident he is the man to restore nobs to former glory.

Surely Alphonse isn't going to captain coach, is he????

I heard this Alphonse character came from StBernards and was being wooed back if they dropped to B Section for his deep knowledge of B Section clubs (not to mention A Grade clubs as well)

Interested to know what sort of club Ivanhoe/Assumption is.....what's their reputation like in regards to discipline, performance, supporter base, etc? What is their ground like? Any comments welcome....

Their ground was recently refurbished and is normally in pretty good condition, except for the real wet days when the turf wicket becomes what all turf wickets become. I don't think the Assumption partnership has done anything for them as they haven't had any success since. It may take time though

Their supporter based would be a mixture of feral country bumkins, a few bezerker-like parent and a few glamour Ivanhoe tarts. Thats if they stay true to name

Ah, very good. Now we can bring back the well worn phrase whenever Dora makes a mistake "pull him off"

Assumption connection has ended after no success - Ivanhoe are an old club with little future I can see unless a junior structure is put into place

did beat a few good sides towards the end of the season but only just held onto to D2 spot so not good signs for the club

Is James Herritage still playing at Keilor Hill?
Had a pretty impressive 2004 season but didn't see his name pop up in 2005.
Can anyone help me out on this one?

Played under Russell Barnes this year and i thought he was a good coach but others did not think so. Very good pick up for beauy but they will still be going straight back to C grade in 2007 as i watched them in the grandfinal and they were terrible
