Word out of HQ - Suspended fine to Kew and a small fine to Aitken <$1k.
Should be uproar from other clubs in the division.

I wonder what Aitken has got on the VAFA committee that they don't want exposed? Only thing I could think of that see's him escape with a small fine.

I say again, has the VAFA got the power to FINE an individual? Fine the Club -YES but would only think a suspension to an individual.

An utter disgrace if that's true

I'm truly flabbergasted by the cowardice of the VAFA to deal with this appropriately. To me, that video footage is damning: the different jumpers, the bibs, the cones, not to mention the coach with a whistle abusing the gentlemen filming. Surely that footage itself is enough to suspend someone?
How can the VAFA allow a coach of a club to conduct themselves in that way is disgraceful...!!

I was fully expecting Kew to not even play on the weekend as a punishment, instead their coach and players entered the field and played with no punishment. Speechless, appalled, and truly disappointed.

Ah yes, the slap on the wrist for some and others heavily fined. Maybe Kew should join Eastern Football League and pay players above the table and not under???

Wonder if CEO Connell will be big enough to mention the incident and the penalty given to a VAFA coach in his little editorial his likes to sermonize from? Maybe he'll just hope nobody saw the herald sun and nightly TV news coverage of it and that nobody is waiting to hear what's come of it?

Last week he was warning all spectators to stay away, saying we all need to do the right thing, how they had to end the women's season effective immediately and that decision was not made lightly. Wonder what the women think of a senior men's coach getting a tickle on the wrist for blatantly and deliberately ignoring the lockdown directives... I can tell you from those I know, they are absolutely livid.

Maybe he'll just get back to collecting fines for late scores. Let's see.

Seems a fraction heavy handed by headquarters. But nice to now move on and enjoy the football.

It's a pretty serious issue. I have friends that have had to close businesses as a result of these lockdowns. Glad to see you manage to get some tongue in cheek sarcasm out of blatant breaches of government health orders though.

Your consideration for the welfare of others is something to behold.

Drip.

Poor take.

I just re-read Connell’s editorial from last weekend, where he states

“I know there will be people scoffing at this suggestion, but as we have seen recently, we ALL need to follow the state government orders so as to get back to ‘normal’ quicker – so please, do the right thing.”

If all that comes from an incident:

* reported in the Herald Sun
* reported on Channel 9
* involving a clearly identifiable VAFA coach
* running a rogue training session in flagrant breach of CHO orders

is a modest fine - that’s an absolute disgrace and he should be embarrassed.

So next time there is a direction from HQ then we can ignore it provided we pay for HQ's end of season lunch? Noted.

Toungue in cheek…what you on about Chazz.
You made my day. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you in here. Hope all is well.

Yes, its going to be tough for us.

Based on the missing 3 games.

Statistically OI probably missed out on the most. Given they were to play Preston twice, the lost percentage is probably where OI have missed out.

Ironically, Monash have missed playing OI and OG's in those 3 games.

Max "fingers crossed" Leader
