Well said, I think games will be okay to go ahead this week provided all new cases are linked and can be "tracked" as such.. No need to panic just yet
I must admit, the news of the exposure sites this morning has been a bit of a kick in the guts. Fingers crossed.

Hard not to see a lockdown coming with our history of failures.

Some of the sites of exposure are very alarming

The issue itself has two elements: Linked/unlinked cases -v- Exposure Sites
Positive case will continue to be announced as the cluster inevitably grows. Provided these are all linked (which so far as at 10:55am on 26/5, they are) it's a good sign that contact tracing is on top of things. Its being managed and they will ask primary and secondary close contacts to isolate. Remember in coming days if a case is announced and they're already isolating then its a sign they are controlling the outbreak. If cases begin to pop up in and around Melbourne where they cannot find the link, then a 5 day lockdown will definitely happen and it will begin on Friday. This is to ensure less business are affected as possible over the course of a weekend.
The other side of the coin is the exposure sites, there a quite a lot of them at the moment which leads the government to believe there are people who have the virus that dont know about it. Given it's a big list and it's still growing this is cause for concern and we all know VicGov has a cautious approach.

Its a balancing act between the two, at the moment it's on the borderline and it can go either way. There's already 1 case (linked) confirmed this morning that will be reported in tomorrows numbers. It's my belief that if all cases announced tomorrow are linked and below 6, Vic Gov will continue with the current restrictions and no lock down.
Otherwise if things go down the paths I've listed above ie unlinked cases and more exposure sites, lockdown will begin from Friday morning..

My question is if we go into lockdown and miss this weeks games, does it get played on Queens Birthday weekend or July 7th? My thought would be July 7 as I'm guessing players and staff/volunteers might have already committed a long weekend away with no football that weekend.

Gia77 The Top 3 Grades have maintained their double bye, ie 10th and 17th July, so there is some room for flexibility.

Have been reliably informed that if matches don't go ahead this weekend (no one is certain of this yet) that there will be no catch up games played and that points will be split in these respective matches.

Certainly will be protests. My club is playing a team that hasn't won a game. No offence to this team, but that will create a stink. Who is supposed to play Parkdale this week or Trinity.

Use the catch up week.

So there should be, especially in the Premier grades that get 2 weeks off in July

Same with Oakleigh in D1, Ivanhoe in D2 and Cantebury in D3. There are winless teams in every grade apart from D4

Max to be fair, although there's no games on for those weekends, they are not "catch up" weeks. They are simply a weekend with no vafa games..
FWIW I would rather them move the games to one of those weekends.. Seems like Queens Birthday is out of the equation so July 7 is the go.
But if Vafa decides to 'scrap' that round so be it. Its the world we live in now and some teams will be unlucky, some wont be

We’re just lucky to be playing footy, who cares if a round doesn’t get played, there’s a fair chance we won’t play this week or next week IMO.

July 10 . Good post by the way.
If we push back and take the byes , then there is the problem with finals grounds , so just let the bottom 3 grades play home finals for once .

Panic is what the Victorian government does best.

String us along throughout the week then pull the plug at 6pm on Friday.

Seen it before, we're going to see it again.
Sadly OTP, i fear you are right. If Gladys was in charge it would be correctly managed but in our nanny state the first response is lockdown.
But, if that does mean games won't go ahead, surely we have enough flexibility to reschedule them later in the year. Simply going to a 17 game season or awarding 2 points each is not a fair outcome for anyone and could seriously impact final 4 positions

So a 7 day lock down is approaching and we miss out on a week of football. As per my previous post, all cases are linked which is a good sign but they obviously fear there's more positives in the community. Provided they stay on top of this which I believe they will, there's no reason why next week's games wouldnt go ahead.

My question is will the VAFA introduce a 'catch up' round for the one missed?

They would be incompetent if they didn’t and I’m led to believe they won’t .
