You have no idea who I am, and again, another negative post! Keep guessing Mr Negative, do you have a sad life?

BTW Mr Einstein, the last time I looked the EPL pays players a fortune, unless I’m missing something we have an amateur competition, shouldn’t you be calling the EDFL etc like the EPL?
If you think the VAFA is a true amateur league you are wrong. You can’t tell me that all of the ex AFL and top players come to play for the love of the game/club and get no financial benefit at all.

Not $$$$ Quite They could have done that at any time previous
I know of two AFL and three former VFA/L who have played Amateur football in the VAFA.
All have answered in a similiar manner during friendly convivial conversation that they have made their money, are now quite financially happy which was helped with brown paper bags playing country and suburban footy. They have made their money and are giving back. They love the Amateur ethos and 'playing for their mates and the guernsey'.
Mercenaries were topics, and derided as they are all jealous of players they knew who were getting paid $more in lesser teams and grades: such players all looking to move elsewhere for a $bump.
Not labouring the point, however a similiar thread in such conversations allured to the culture and dedication of VAFA clubs and their old boys' clubs which have infused similar social behaviour, character and atmosplere throughout the competition.

So what you’re saying is that rather than giving back to the clubs that paid them good $$, when they weren’t good enough to be paid $$ anymore, they played for their local ammo club
I don’t give a $uck but we all know ammo clubs pay their best players one way or another

All depends if you consider TAB vouchers as cash or not..

Powerhouse and Albert Park are located in same area but apart from this there is no more similarities. Always loved playing against the 'House! Why do we keep pushing mergers? Supporting the Divisionsal clubs should be a priority of the VAFA HQ. Real shame to see the Division 4 comp shrinking rapidly as clubs fold/merge/exit VAFA. Not all clubs aspire to reach Premier A and sometimes its about providing an opportunity for kids to have a kick at their own level.

Maybe in the late 80’s and early 90’s perhaps? I think today there’s a lot more scrutiny on all clubs, especially after the Topakas episode with OM’s.

Please give some real examples. You do know that if you pay a player and you are caught, that you get relegated two grades lower? Why would any club risk that for anyone?

Gerard Bevan - Prahran - 💯 was paid

Clubs are a lot smarter now. 80s and 90s was ridiculous. 1 club, players were being paid by VAFA Vice President at the time

...... I know of an A grade club that paid one of my best mates visa card each month ($500) back in the mid-90's! The joke among us young lads by him was "my shout boys ..... $@# is paying" :)

or

'Working' for a certain Presidents company, but having never set foot in the work place?

or

A certain player who's educational costs (post attending Assumption Collage) were 'sorted' by contacts made there to play football in the VAFA.

Everyone will have a understanding or story within the VAFA of bending of rules. To suggest ALL clubs play by the rules is a tad unrealistic as different inducements have been put forward as long as I can recall.

Would never happened at SKOBAFL and W or OXAFL

I reckon the big test for Elsternwick Park/Sportscover Arena will be the June-August period; will the new-look surface withstand a huge amount of rain in the lead-up to a match in comparison to what we saw in last year's Premier B GF Day?
Like you not going to the AGM , maybe wait till then

I want to be transparent and honest on this forum ..... we pay Brainy Tim. Those who play against us suggest he is a 19th man on the ground. As such .... guilty as charged!!!

Chump 🏆
Hey chump, if that is the case, can you please speak with president Rawley and see if he can get me one of those $500 debit cards? Should last me 2 weeks at the TAB!

The vafa has never been a true amateur game, people have to move on from that point...its a fantastic competition and players have been recruited primarily by jobs as a substitute for cash for ever. The footy is pretty good too. Some players play for love and others just grift......I've utilised the business networks of the club I played at for 20 years... as well as the mates I've made on the field. The vafa comp is as good as any other in Victoria imo.

I've never seen $ change hands but understand this happens in vafa footy. If you can attract players via a job then you have done well. Problem is keeping them 🤣

And I do reckon it's time for grog to be sold as well....just have to be strict. Anywho just my two bobs worth

You'd have to be very sloppy to be busted by the VAFA on these matters. Just sayin!
