Happy to accept fwiwFWIW new vafa president creating a big footy account and the Herald Sun doing a write up on Div1-Div4 recruits, what other nuggets does 2024 have in store? Bedford as the new mod?

100% - I wish, I really do wish, I didn't have so many gripes with HQ, but they make it so hard to be supportive when their decisions are so damaging to divisional clubs. My only problem with this is the division selections.
I'd you are strong enough to have so many teams they should be in successive divisions- otherwise the rich get richer. Let clubs with only one thirds compete against each other in lower divisions.
OX five teams should be Prem to Div 4.
We're talking about a school with 300 in each year level, they send out mass emails and letters to stay involved with their Old Boy sporting clubs, they preach networking opportunities. It's the ATAR in football form. Rigged for their success. No affiliation with Xavs just gobsmacked with their numbers- unbelievable! At the end of the day their bottom (Div 6) team is essentially their 7ths so players ranked 150+ in their senior ranks, compared to other thirds teams which may only have 1 team in that bottom grade….players ranked 50+ at their club. I know they are an extremely strong club but this seems fair!
Factually incorrect, Xavier College has 1,558 boys enrolled from Prep to Year 12, which is actually a 23% decline in enrolments from 2014. At some point this will catch up with their football club, potentially sooner than we all think as their under 19’s premier team lost a practice match yesterday 17 goals to 1.We're talking about a school with 300 in each year level, they send out mass emails and letters to stay involved with their Old Boy sporting clubs, they preach networking opportunities. With all due respect, most guys in their thirds would be playing ones or twos at most divisional clubs, but they're happy to take the easy option to play with their mates and probably win a flag. I don't blame them, but nobody really cares.
For some of us, it might appear to be a soulless corporate operation. But like other soulless corporate operations, it pays the bills at OXFC, keeps the VAFA happy and creates hundreds of premiership reunions.
Interesting. I didn't know this about both their under 19s and enrolment decline. I also know their women's program has been an absolute disaster too, whereas St Kevins and Scotch, amongst others have seen huge benefits and accordingly have had massive success.Factually incorrect, Xavier College has 1,558 boys enrolled from Prep to Year 12, which is actually a 23% decline in enrolments from 2014. As far as most of their guys playing ones or reserves at divisional clubs, I’d would suggest that nearly anyone would play seniors or reserves at a D3 team.
School BOY teams shouldn't have girls teams. Don't worry im waitingInteresting. I didn't know this about both their under 19s and enrolment decline. Agree bedford but we aren’t talking about a school boy team. We are talking about a football club in the VAFA, just like AFL clubs have women’s teams in the AFLWSchool BOY teams shouldn't have girls teams. Don't worry im waiting

U are too old school my friend. Really doesn't mean anything, not effecting or hurting anyone. Like u said, if the club isn't forthright and well structured the women become a hindrance on resourcesSchool BOY teams shouldn't have girls teams. Don't worry im waiting

XAVSWAFL blessing/curse at the moment is players 10-60 are very close in ability but some don’t commit to Senior Football requirements. Player 55 mentioned would walk into A Grade seniors with a god pre season under their belt. Work, life balance and premiership reunions are the alternative.Having witnessed the massive difference a couple of quality players can make at thirds level, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Xavs have employed the same method a lot of local cricket clubs use.
Players 36-40 in 1st Thirds team, 41-45 in 2nd side, 46-50 in 3rd side etc then the rest fill out the teams. So the 5th side might include 150th player on the list, it’ll also include Xavs 55th best player, I’m sure they’re a bit better than a Divisional clubs 60-70th players.
*they’reBut their not boys schools
Plenty of local clubs have girls teams and now 1 out of Port Melbourne , the ChargersGirlfriends, sisters, daughters, teachers all connected to the clubs, why should they have to go somewhere else with no connections to play football?
Who cares there their or every they're*they’re
they're probably made up of sister school old girls teams. I think St Cath's is St Kev's sister school and it would be way harder for st Cath's to start an old girls club than for alumni to play in a women's team for the already existing brother school's old boys team (SKOB)School BOY teams shouldn't have girls teams. Different religions and different social economic make up.....definitely makes sense for the Old Boys teams to welcome and promote women's teams. Just makes the whole organisation better.they're probably made up of sister school old girls teams. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$FWIW did we have an ammo version of the Kyneton women’s footy scandal? Collegians to Port Melbourne Chargers?
The Collegians women’s programme is on hold this year, so those girls are simply transferring to a club close by so they can play a game of footy.FWIW did we have an ammo version of the Kyneton women’s footy scandal? Collegians to Port Melbourne Chargers?
