Its takes a tragedy to get these two comps together.

If the Ammo's win, watch the cheque books from the EFL come out.

If the EFL win, the Ammos will never hear the end of it. However, the ammo's will roll out the "How much money does it take to beat us"

Next thought, Will the clubs be willing to let their players get involved, knowing that most will be building up to the start of the season. They won't play in a praccy match the day before.

Where will they play at, Will the ground be in good enough condition.

There's 6 weeks to prepare as a player, with the VAFA club season still 3 weeks away after the conclusion of the match. I seriously doubt any VAFA clubs would be so selfish (given the reason for the game) to dissuade their players from playing.

As for the EFL players who have $750 to $2000 pre game match payments to worry about if they get seriously injured, well....it remains to be seen.

Great idea, and the venue will no doubt be a VFL ground in good condition, Box Hill FG would be ideal.

The end result will be a great suburban footy fundraiser, won comfortably by a better prepared EFL outfit.

Scribe,

I was being a bit cheeky!!

I agree with your prediction.

Maybe in the spirit of Goodwill the EFL Clubs agree not to approach any VAFA player other than with a handshake and a beer.

Even though an interleague game is good, would it be better to have the Div.1 premiers of the Eastern Football League go up against the VAFA A Section premiers instead?

No - having a Rep. game comprising players from many clubs from both competitions is far more appropriate as a gesture of support for the bushfire victims from the entire EFL and VAFA competitions.

A STBMT -v- Balwyn game wouldn't have the same broad appeal and impact, and it also wouldn't be fair on those clubs alone.

By the way, FYI, here's the EFL side the VAFA would be up against on the 29th of March:

B: M.Williams (Scoresby) D.Sheers (ERing-c) M.Witkowski (Norwood)

HB: S.Godfrey (Norwood) J.Smith (Balwyn) B.Goddard (Scoresby)

C: R.Mullett (Vermont) P.O'Brien (Noble Park) R.Harry (Balwyn)

HF: D.Kelly (Noble Park) P.Bowden (Balwyn) K.Height (Blackburn)

F: A.Froud (Vermont) M.Greig (Vermont) L.Barker (Croydon)

R: B.Smith (Balwyn) K.Bardon (Vermont) C.Anderson (NPark)

INT: M.Buzaglo (ERing) M.Tuminello (Blackburn) C.Morris (Scoresby)

Coach: Jeremy Campbell (Blackburn)

Surely, surely, surely, we should have our team of the year take on this lot, as opposed to the state side?

Are there any other teams in the EFL other than Balwyn, Noble Park and Vermont?

Fair representation.

I'm tipping a fair few of their guys have moved on or retired

correct Hornet....a couple at least:

Brad smith...retired
Sheers....Gone

Brendan Goddard will be at St. Kilda no doubt......
....and Mark Williams will coach Port Adelaide!!

EFL by 8 goals.

March is the VAFA's best chance to win, dry grounds when they can move the ball quickly and use pace & skill.

Play this game in July & August, and the EFL still win by 10 goals but this time in the wet with their stronger harder bodies.

Clubs like Vermont & Noble Park aren't idiots, the guys they pay are very good, consistent players

the game is going to be played at Jubilee Park in Ringwood. It is kept in great condition over summer as Ringwood's premier cricket team plays there. One of the largest ovals going around, may suit better running side.

Just wait for the ammo side on paper, they will definately have the cheque books ready...More so to stop EFL players heading for the Ammo's perhaps????....I think both leagues will be curious to see what sort of standard of player from each league gets around the park. Lets face it both are chock a block full of ex AFL 20 somethings....Great cause it will be sure to be a great day whatever happens!!!
Huge crowd predicted, would be great to get 8000...
