Today we received some horrible news that one of the integral former posters and moderators of this board has passed away in the last few days.

We don’t have much more info than that at this stage, but I’m sure most of you who remember grizz will be as gutted and shocked as the rest of us who’ve learned of his passing.

Grizz was a major part of this forum for a long time, and through his connections was able to organize meetups at the club where a whole group of us were able chat with Mark Evans and other HFC staff about the “Don’t think, do” membership campaign which was dreamt up on these boards.

Others may remember that he was the man behind getting the HFC_Official account to post here, and even organised a live event with Graham Wright where we could ask him questions about the list on here. For a long time he was also the person behind “Shhhhh”.

Grizz was prevalent on a number of boards and held the attention of many posters and mods during his time here.

We’ll be thinking of ways in which we can remember Grizz over the coming weeks, but for now please join me and the rest of moderator team in thanking Grizz for all that he did for this place and the legacy he left behind on these boards, as I know he undoubtedly had conversations with many of you over the years.

Vale Matt.

To say I’m shocked is an understatement. Incredibly sad news

Grizz reached out to me a few times in the early days when I wasn’t in a good space and I’ve never forgotten that.

Some of his threads were legendary - he was a man of many words and at times very funny

Condolences to his family and friends 💔

I’m shocked. I’m guessing he was a few years older than me, which would make him early 50’s.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Matt a couple of times but exchanged dozens of text messages during the wilder days of BF, particularly on the GD board.

He was a gentleman and a deep thinker and his departure from this board was deeply felt. His loss will sadden everyone who knew him.

Was perusing through New Posts and this thread came up and was a huge shock.

A great guy to shoot the breeze with, and he was the one (along with Fred, RIP) to guide me through my first few weeks as moderator such as learning how to unfairly ban people you don't like and abuse the system to shut down dissent (jk). He was like a mentor to me, but more importantly a chill dude and a genuine forum friend.

I will miss him. Condolences to his family and friends.

This is really sad news.

Back in the day Grizz was of course one of the admins on BF and in that capacity as an ex mod and super myself, I had a lot to do with him, and I had the absolute highest regard for him.

He was an incredibly intelligent guy. I met him briefly once only, unfortunately.

He hadn’t been on BF in quite a few years; I got the impression real life had become so busy that he just no longer had the time or headspace for it, and the site was poorer for his absence.

His thread about the adventures and misadventures of his father from years ago on the GD board remains one for the ages - do yourself a favour and search for it if you haven’t seen it.

This really is a shock. Condolences to all, especially his friends and family.

I enjoyed reading Matt's posts. They were always well thought out and full of interesting stuff. If I recall it correctly, I got my first slap on the wrist from him shortly after joining BF. I deserved it.

Very sad news. Condolences to his family and friends.

I met him only once, when he passed on some tickets to the Big Freeze a few years ago, so I didn’t know him well, but Grizz was one of the key people that was around when I first started modding.

He was always level-headed, decent and ready to advise, and supported so many of us as we learned the ropes. Highly respected by everyone who met him, and a huge loss.

RIP.
