Gutted. Built like a twig but had the heart of a lion. Sublimely skilled wingman and probably my favourite non-RFC player of all time.
Rest in Peace Robbie.

Very sad news. As odd as it sounds I always liked Flower simply for being a great guy. Whenever you saw him on TV he was always congenial and easy to like. Sublime footballer who retired just as I started following the Dees.

RIP

a huge loss. i recall the dark days for melbourne in the early 80's, replaced in the late 80's with rejoicing as melbourne made finals and robbie given a chance for success before retirement.
RIP.

I think nearly every neutral wanted the dees to make the finals for robbie

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't believe it!

I just spoke to him at the B&F! He said he just got out of hospital after a heart op and felt great!!!!!!!

I wore #2 on my back throughout my junior years. He was my idol. And I was lucky enough to call him a friend over the last 10 years. If this is true, I'm absolutely shattered!!!!!

Absolutely shattering news..
Condolences to his family.. Shattered

I have been watching for football for 45 years but as a youngster I will never forget Robbie Flower and Doug Hawkins on the wing at the Western Oval
It was just beautiful to watch

RIP Robbie
