Sick and tired of all the ****ing hindsight heroes popping up after every good Meek game explaining why we should have traded away our 23 year reigning b&f ruck who had played like 3 full seasons in a row so that we could have kept a 24 year old who had played a dozen games for us.

Also the same people that think we traded Meek to get JOM when Meek would have ended up at Hawks even if JOM had stayed.

Honestly surprised there haven't been more people sooking that we let Lobb leave and he's turned into a very solid Key Defender.
Totally. The thing is too, we wanted to keep Meek and upped the offer.

He basically read the tea leaves and headed for more opportunities. It didn't look so good for him last year and early this year, when he was ordinary and they preferred Reeves etc. He's put together a great season for him.

Can he keep it up into another will be interesting. He'll probably be more battered without a chop out.

Seriously? Darcy had just won the Doig after back to back seasons of 21 games. Meek had only played 12 games and was behind him and Lobb (then Jackson) in the pecking order. Sure people were saying Meek should have played more games but he had only played 12 when we traded him.
The mistake was trading in JOM and not backing Brodie, Erasmus and Johnson to fill the Mundy sized hole in our midfield. But Meek was always going to go and nothing could have stopped that.
Can’t argue with this, at the time it was a right decision. The recent reactions are just the product of the frustration fans have developed over Sean’s availability. I don’t think anyone doubts Darcy’s playing ability and talent, in fact that’s the frustrating part, everyone knows he could be the most dominant ruckman in the league. Injuries are unfortunate part and they happen but when the player isn’t taking his rehab, preparation and fitness seriously, which could easily be the case here, then the criticism is valid. It’s either that or he’s being badly mismanaged by the club which I think is less likely.

Or we can accept that injuries and wear and tear are a fact of life in the AFL. Especially for ruckman.

Max Gawn when he was in his mid twenties had three seasons of limited availability playing 9 & 13 game seasons in 2014 & 2015, plus another 13 game season in 2017. His early 2 seasons were more recurring hammy and occasional knee issues, alongside development of his game. But 2017 was a knee injury that curtailed his availability.

It is an interesting conversation though, would you take a fit and available Meek or Darcy who is the better ruckman but plays 15 games a season.

A lot depends on whether Jackson will get his shit together and play like he did in the back half of last year. His form this season is really the only reason we're even having this conversation.

Actually even if he was playing that well the conversation would still be ongoing, because people have convinced themselves he's on $1mil.

There’s a solid argument that Meek is now the better ruck…so there’s that…
Not really. Even Meek’s best games Darcy has had about 20 of the same calibre. Meek has had the better season (I’d argue only due to availability) but he is not the better player.

People just like to forget just how good Darcy actually is when he’s fit.

I hope we have chris scotts mobile on hand and we're ringing him regularly. The last few games are killing off supporters. It was a ****ing disgrace. the difference between wins and losses are too great. JLo is on woodshed watch! Id almost swing the axe now.

Need even better experience around the young core.
Zorko down back helps, with Andrews as FB.
Neale in midfield as well.

Daniher, Charlie Cameron with Ah Chee is even better.

Fremantle are younger overall.

I have a feeling they would have to wait in line at Freo until Fyfe, Walters and JOM retired. We need to be much more ruthless and move on the veterans sooner than we currently do. Expose the young guys so they get a taste at least to realise what they need to succeed.
We have moved on Tabs, Aish and Hughes this year and we need to move on more in 2025.

They're great kids. But the flag was won by a superbly seasoned core of 12-14 players. We're on an OK track.

Brisbane have had 6 genuine cracks at a flag.

19-24 were all winnable for them.

They had to win one now or they never would have.

Brisbane has been in every finals series since 2019.
It's continuity and momentum. The same core more or less have been there for 5 years,

Its sad to think but best thing Lachie Neal ever did for his career was leave Freo.

Would potentially never have won a Brownlow or a Premiership here.
And to think meeting a Perth girl would guarantee a lifetime at freo.

We were so wrong.

And the club for letting him go a year early.

I would have rolled the dice for 12 months and copped the FA compensation.

1 first rounder wasn't enough and it's showed
