Why is our club getting cucked so hard this season? If he leaves I hope the Clarko experiment fails big time leaving Logue and Bell holding the bag.
$$$, we have had a breakout season so anyone who doesn't want to stick around is probably chasing money, not success. At least we don't have Serong, Brayshaw, Darcy, Cox, Young etc. asking for a trade.

This exodus may be a blessing in disguise. We need the cap space for when the above negotiate their next contract. They are far more important than any of this current lot who want out.

I'm not sold on Clarkson, personally. Yes he has been a great coach. The expectations will be massive for him to turn it around quickly. To me it just has shades of Calton/Pagan/Malthouse vibes.

If North win their next flag before we win our 1st, I reckon I might give up on footy and focus on something else.

So in the past week Freo have:
  • Been knocked out of AFL finals;
  • Knocked my Souths out of WAFL finals;
  • Had a club legend play his last game;
  • Had half a dozen players either entertain or actively seek new homes;
  • Had an assistant coach leave;
  • Had rumours of the footy ops boss leave;
  • Had players wanting to return to WA but not categorically say they want to come to us.
  • EDIT: forgot to add - how the above have given sh*ttruck 'journalists' fuel for their doomshtick.
I know there's silver linings to much of this, but it just leaves my oversized novelty Flagmantle 2022 mug half empty.
How much of this is due to your footy ops boss? He is responsible for footy department and everything that happens within it.

If Bell were to leave, does this help resolve or improve all of these issues?

A genuine question as there is strong talk about him interested in North, just trying to get a sense of the culture etc - from the outside it looks like players and staff (local WA people) are looking to leave from a club that made finals, which is unusual. Do we know why?

I think this is just coincidence/a sign of success. These people are mostly leaving because they have been offered good opportunities, which is what happens when you start to put some runs on the board. The club has been clear that the goal is sustained success, which requires making hard decisions. We enjoyed a brief period in 2012-2015, but I think the conclusion from the 4 years that followed is that to build sustained success we need to have a much more long term perspective.

This is the vent thread, but I think it’s short term pain for long term gain. There’s no denying the short term pain, though.

Having Bell as footy Op is a big reason why we won 15 games this year.

I don’t see how we improve next year let alone manage to cover the losses from the upcoming trade period. I’m seriously wondering if we can even scrape into the finals next year.

This off-seasons will be a make or break for the club and many Fremantle supporters memberships IMO.
Steady on. A few people said the same thing when Neale left, then said the same thing the following year when Langdon and Hill left.

How good would we be if we if we still had all of them?!
Not great. Hill and Langdon especially haven't been earth shattering, especially at the pay rates they are getting.
Also we keep them and we'd not have Serong, Brayshaw, Young, Amiss, Erasmus, NOD or Chapman either.

'Why win a premiership this year, when you could win a premiership next year?'. Old Freo saying.

Let’s go in next year without lobb and the same forwards and do it all over again. Something has to change

Our forwards don’t lead. It’s a truly Freo phenomenon and it’s reflected in those stats.

To my eye Jye Amiss became our most lethal looking forward in his second game because a) he leads at the ball carrier, and b) he has more forward craft in his pinky finger than Tabs, Lobb, Logue and Fyfe have in total between them.
Throw Treacy in and get lucky with Sturt, Kuek or Benning and who knows what could happen.

If it is to cost us any more then two first round picks I hope we walk away, Why we are desperate for Jackson I have no clue. Offering up both first round picks day 1 of the trade period, what a weak display.

Taranto cost Richmond 12 and 19 and is a proven talent that has played more then just a handful of decent games and has runs on the board.

13 and F1 predicted around 10 - 18 is already plenty and in the eyes of everyone but Melbourne and it’s supporters, it is overpaying, and yet there is talk that Melbourne want more from us?

Taking a punt on an athlete before footballer in the top 10 of the draft, hoping he will be a replacement for Pearce just to watch him walk for nothing more then a second round pick.

We for some reason didn’t rate Acres enough to even fight for a better pick, a future 3rd seriously? For a bloke that is going to be instant best 22 and play all year for them, what a joke.

Add in the fact that the only players other then Jackson linked to Fremantle are 2 players that can’t get a game at Gold Coast and another player that is unfit and retired 4 months ago.

I’m sorry for the melt/rant guys but for me, this trade period has disaster written all over it

You are right , so far we have lost 3 players + a future 3rd rounder , And have only gained two future 3rd rounders one Carlton 1 North's , Future 4th and a future 2nd north's. Bad trading so far and it is only going to get worse with the Jackson trade .
The way I see it 3 out for under value 1 in massively over valued.
