And we owe them for the beating they gave us at Metricon earlier in the year.
If we can somehow win this then Melbourne are a big chance to drop to 13th giving us pick 5 we should be looking to off load that pick for a quality player in the age bracket Rocket has indicated. Personally I hope we are in the ear of a few out of favour Giants
With The Giants and swans sitting 2&3 on the ladder I am getting excited about the potential of a all Sydney GF, it would be great for the game here in Sydney but what I really want is to see Eddie and the rest of the Melbourne media lose thier shit.
Don't think I want to give up pick 5 for a player that can't make the Giants team but there is definitely a treasure trove of Giants down there for some other picks.
Any ideas Iva, as to who we could get and what we would have to give up?
I am just thinking that our 1st rounders this year are wasted as matching a bid on Bowes may eat up pick 4 and some of the Melbourne pick dropping it out of the first round. We wound get more for them by trading them for ready made players or future picks.
As for the Giants Whitfield, Buntine and Hoskin Elliot were running around in the seconds this week. Not saying we should chase them but there is no lack of quality in there reserves
Cheers Iva, it's a tough one. Whitfield is a good player but not sure we are after his type of game. Hoskin-Elliott might be worth taking a risk with (He is so enigmatic, but might turn out to be inconsistent his whole career) not keen to give up pick 5 though.

I read somewhere a few years back that each club knows what the other is going to do as it gets close to the draft, so hopefully that is the case this year because the permultations are endless, especially with Jaeger and Dion unsigned thus far.

Well they might think they know but an example of where we didn't was last year when we did the silly deal with Melbourne, we gave up pick 3 (and 10) as we wanted Oliver and felt 3 was too high and he would still be available at 6. Melbourne then took him with the very pick we gave them FLABAGASTING we then took Achee at 6 when he wasn't rated by most in the top 10. We also completely stuffed up the Harley trade and got nothing for a gun, he might be troubled but so are many players
I thought we got Fremantles first pick for Bennell.

BUT we got rid of Harley.
We'll look back in 5 years and say that it was one of the best decisions the club ever made.
I hope you're right, still think the club should of been able to straighten him out, flogging him off was not a great look
OK didn't realise that's pretty average but he was highly tainted which drove his value down.
Not withstanding he has missed an ENTIRE season with a calf injury.

As harsh as it sounds mate, Some people are beyond saving. No disrespect intended but we got what we could for Harley and hope that sending him home straightens him out.
But short term though year 1 we've won that trade by default because he hasn't played a game and we've swept the Dockers by a combined 60 odd points.
