Wow, just wow. That’s ******* awesome

Saw this, great effort, would be nice if that was in the media a bit more.

Yeah that really is awesome. Club needs to be pushing things like this more to prove that they are doing good for the community and help shore up support. Also 2MP and Touk seem like fantastic people. Would be good if more players got involved once a month or so instead of just those two.

At the beginning of this year I told my kids I really thought we were a chance to play finals
I really actually thought it was a strong possibility
In the end, 2017 turned out to be the sort of year that if it was on fire you wouldn't piss on it
Nothing at all to recommend it
The good part is that my expectations for 2018 are so low that anything decent that comes out of it will be a cause for celebration

Wow ! I look at it a bit differently Sandy. We just got a 21yo 45 gamer, in his 4th pre-season, who shows potential and wants to be here ,with Pick 2, as against an untried 18yo who shows potential, and maybe wants to be here. Then we get a bloke at 42, whom "everyone" said we should take at 19, so I'm happy with that. Meanwhile at 19 we get a smokey who may be boom or bust. We probably won't know for 2-3 yrs. Then to top it off we get both our Academy kids with later picks. So I'm happy with how that went tonight.
Then I look at 12 months ago and we got 4 top 10 picks who all signed 2 yr extensions, and the next yr we get probably 2 top 10 picks in a so called super draft.
Add to that we were able to rid the Club of the cancer that, in my opinion, had divided the playing group, and install a new Coach and virtually new football dept. So here I agree with you in a way, that 2017 was not what I expected.
All in all though, I reckon we've done allright considering. At the same time I also believe the time was right for Mr. Clayton to move on. Not real happy with how it was done BUT....
So I'm looking forward to next year and the years after.....I just hope I'm around long enough to enjoy them.

The only thing you get from looking back.....................is a sore neck.

The AFL needs to address the go home BS that has crept in if they're serious about running a national comp.
The commentators on the draft more or less admitted that last night. You no longer pick up the best kid available, but now look at his mummy factor when deciding.
Minimum 3 year (preferably 4) contracts for kids drafted. If they 'need' to go home, then can front an independent panel who weigh up the circumstances. If it's found they can return home, then they can't nominate any club in the state they're returning home to. The club losing the kid can then negotiate the best deal. It's ruining the draft, trade period and clubs.
Gil needs to forget about his pet social engineering BS and fluff rounds and fix this mess.

Agree ^^^^^^
It's either a national comp or it's not
The AFL with its inaction is maintaining the status quo of rich and poor
It's becoming nearly impossible for interstate clubs to succeed

On the GC for work next week and took the opportunity to come up early and enjoy the weekend.
Was having breakfast at BSKT this morning and spotted David Swallow, Weller and Barlow doing the same. Was going to ask for a pic but didn’t want to be the dick that interrupts their meal. I had a plan to put two fingers up as the peace sign and post it here with a pick 2 tag but then I would of been a double dick.

Boys looked fit and way too handsome

I've just sent off an email to GCmembership dept about the lack of updates occurring on our Homepage. The latest being from the 27th November.

With new players, new coaches etc arriving at our Club, pre-season training having just commenced, surely there's lots of stuff going on that can be reported to our members. I really like to be kept up to date and the only way this is happening is by the input from you blokes here on Big footy, for which I thank you.
We need new Members. A Homepage with content 3 days old isn't the way to do it....

rant over...........

That actually sounds like a great solution

I have just received a reply from GC Membership Dept. If anyone is interested in reading it, I can email it to you if I can have your email address.

I'd like 3 or 4 year contracts for 1st rounders, but not so much for later picks.

Yeah that’s always a risk with 4 years where Clubs could be stuck with a bust. The whole I miss my family but it has to be Richmond, Essendon etc is doing my head in though.
