You think it's a long wait between AFL games?

College Football 25 (Formally NCAA Football) is out on early access from Tuesday morning, I've been waiting nearly 11 goddamn years for it to come back.

The series went away due to some lawsuits around paying 'amateur' university students for their name and likeness.

What's relevant to Gold Coast is that it'll have a create a team function and i've already got plans in place for a GC Suns branded school, I'll share screenshots as soon as I get it up and running.

Righto not sure where to post my experience for the Perth trip so might as well do it here, going off memory so will probably forgotten several things.

You get access to Virgin lounge at both Coolangatta and Perth
Players and staff sit in front, fans at back - There were supposedly 50 tickets available and most were sold but some people pulled out so there were spare seats, Evans was helpful and got some people to move around to create more space. Some players meet up with the fans just before takeoff, from memory there was Jeffrey, Powell, Long and Flanders

We then take a shuttle from the airport directly to Optus for the captain's run session. We get to walk through the away rooms, we then get an quick Q&A with one of the stats guys, can't remember his name but he was from Richmond with Damien. Talked about a few stats for the season, the obvious being our stats being way down in away games and us being 2nd in league for i50s but 2nd worst for efficiency.

Then shuttle to hotel, players stay at different hotel. Apparently the cost for everyone to be at the 1 place would've been too much. Given a merch pack with a shirt, the hospitality scarf, Sixt book and pen. Free time for the rest of the day.

Friday morning there is a Q&A with Mark Evans and Wayne Campbell. Evans talked about how we had to fight hard to get a charted flight from Coolangatta instead of flying from Brisbane, AFL eventually relented and allowed but it's up to the Suns to make it financially viable. Talked about fairness and competitive compared to Victorian clubs. An idea from Fremantle was to force a Victorian club to host a host game in Perth due to the difference in travel. There is interest on both sides for Dusty to come here.

Free time for a few hours.

Shuttle to Optus and have a prematch function at the Camfield, Evans and Bob East were there. We then go into the guard of honour on the field, I got to hold the banner. We've missed the first 5 or so minutes of the game but we didn't know how to get to the corporate boxes. If the team won, we got to go into the rooms but everyone stayed due to how close the game was.

We lost the game then shuttled straight to the airport, at first they wouldn't let us into the lounge due to the flight technically being tomorrow at 12:05 but East and Evans pushed hard to let us in. Arrive at Coolangatta at 6 or so.

Apart from us losing the game, I'm very happy with the experience.

Anyone else still getting swans threads listed in their alerts Big Red Machine
I'm not and this is the first i've heard since last time. See below and let me know if Chief's fix doesnt work.

The answer is here:

Not for me anymore - chief did mention a while back if you go to the sunset board manually and unwatch that should fix it.

That worked for me

See post above yours /\

Hopefully one day we'll be like the Swans and get big crowds in a NRL state and still dominate the fan ratio even against the Collingwoods and Carltons of the league

Just pondering footy on the Goldie, after another finals-less season, and was curious. From 2011-2024, how many finals have teams played?
Geelong 30
Sydney 28
Hawthorn 22
Collingwood 21
GWS 18
West Coast 17
Brisbane 16
Richmond 16
Port 15
W Bulldogs 13
Freo 11
Adelaide 10
Melbourne 10
Carlton 8
North Melbourne 8
Essendon 5
St Kilda 4
Gold Coast 0
A bit of catching up to do to get off the bottom of this ladder!!!

Tbh, it doesn't bother me this stat in the slightest.

If we made 0 finals for another 10 years, and then won a premiership in the 11th, I don't care at all.

Making finals is irrelevant if you don't win it in the end.

To an extent. But Sydney fans would have had a fun year winning all those games. Yep, the end is heartbreaking. But in terms of value, enjoying most games a season plus playing finals, compared to enjoying no more than 11 games a season and no finals?

Add to that the fact that continually losing just turns over your list and forces players out to chase success, while demoralising a fan base…

Moral of the story is, I’d rather be there abouts and have a chance regularly, becoming a relevant club, than hope that I win a miracle premiership out of nowhere.

(But a premiership is a premiership. I’m just talking statistics of getting them. A well run club that competes consistently has a higher chance of winning one, right?)

Your post have been like this for awhile, at least a few weeks. I was assuming it was to do with you posting from your phone or something?

Since we're well and truly in the offseason now and don't have much footy related content to discuss, I thought it would be a good idea to create a thread where we can discuss anything that's not Suns related. I'll kick it off. The Queensland state election is this Saturday and it looks like most are anticipating a new government to be ushered in. As most of us already know, the Gold Coast has long been considered a conservative area that is dominated by the LNP or its earlier iterations. However, we did see 5 GC seats become marginal in the 2020 election (Currumbin, Coomera, Burleigh, Mermaid Beach & Southport) so it's possible that we'll see some Gold Coast seats swing to another party. There's also the curious case of the minor parties in Queensland and seeing whether they can retain their seats e.g. Will the Green retain their inner Brisbane seats? Will the Katters keep their stranglehold in north Queensland? The Olympic stadium situation is another interesting talking point that will affect footy in Queensland.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts/predictions on the upcoming QLD election?
