You will find the the VFA logos from the 1970s were a copy of the NFL USA one that is still in use today.

Long before the AFL/VFL copied them in the 1990s.The VFL/AFL were squared off at the top the same as the current VFL logo.

I am pretty sure Henley did sponsor Werribee at some stage.

The 1913 Capstan cigarette cards incluing VFL, VFA, Ballarat and Bendigo clubs.

Mero might have a more informed opinion but aside from the obvious Essendon Bombers and Collingwood, none of the other VFA/VFL strips match up with what I have seen/read over the years.

From Left to right

Sth Melb, Williamstown, Northcote
Essendon Bombers, Ballarat, Sth Ballarat
Port Melb, Prahran, Richmond
Carlton, Essendon A, Melbourne
California Gully, Bendigo City

Footscray, Collingwood, Melb City, Fitzroy, Brighton
Geelong, Sth Bendigo, Brunswick, Golden Point, University
Nth Melb, St Kilda, Ballarat Imperials, Eaglehawk

Capstan cards don't show the real guernseys.

I remember reading on this board - so it was probably from Mero :) - that the Capstan cards were drawn and inked in Germany. The artists were provided with a list of club names and colours, but not designs, so they interpreted them as they saw fit.

Thanks Omegaville that explains the inconsistencies. 1913 was on the cusp of WW1, they probably wouldn't have got the gig after war was declared.

The last five current clubs

North Ballarat Roosters (Current VFL Uniform)

Werribee Tigers (Current VFL Uniform)

Northern Blues (Current VFL Uniform)

Collingwood Magpies (Current VFL Uniform)

A few more clubs to add.
Sandringham Zebras - (History of the club's uniform)

Werribee Tigers - (History of the club's uniform)

Preston/Northern Bullants/Knights/Blues - (History of the club's uniform)

Here are a few clubs, two that are not in the competition now and two that are. This is a look at the history of their uniforms.

Northcote Dragons

Mordialloc Bloods

Frankston Dolphins (History of the club's uniform)

Box Hill Mustangs (History of the club's uniform)

Werribee wore the blue jumper as a clash strip a few years ago, when they were associated with the Western Bulldogs. I didn't include it in history because only four uniform sets fit in.
