Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion Part 2

Does Fremantle have the right to thrive and not just be competitive too?
Freo have had four top4 finishes in the 21st century, more than Carl, Ess, NM, WB and Melbourne.

The only thing stopping Freo has been poor Fremantle administration, and their horrendous trading.

Sort that out and Freo can thrive, they have a great ground advantage.

If you have Issues about all these poxy problems. Relocate to another state. Mirrabooka Magpies Sounds nice. you get your own home ground there.

If you want... I am Sure you can have your own Home ground in Tassie or Queensland or NSW if you think theres too many tenants in docklands or MCG.
I support Collingwood, we get looked after in terms of ground advantage compared to the Melbourne clubs. So thankfully I can support my team from Melbourne.

But yes, if they want to be successful it would make sense for the Bulldogs to make Ballarat their actual home, North move to Canberra, Essendon actually pick 1 ground etc.

Nah Freomaniac seems to think they get an advantage. Might explain why he thinks vicbias is such a big deal if he fundamentally misunderstands what the word 'advantage' means.
Again.... As you are a Richmond fan... Richmond only gets home ground advantage vs the 8 non Vic sides and maybe even Geelong.

Saying that, you would want Tassie to get in and another non Vic side to make it 20 teams. So that means 10 non Vic sides

What home ground advantage do we get against Collingwood or Melbourne?

Pies hardly ever go there...

Two GF wins though.

Two GF wins though.
Melbourne won a GF, after having to play and win 3 finals outside Victoria, so didn't get any ground advantage.

WB won a GF, after finishing 7th and having to win 4 finals games not at their home ground, again no ground advantage.

A couple of magical cinderella style Septembers for two of the disadvantaged Melbourne based teams.

One was the Covid years so a neutral game . The other was an Umpiring driven fairytale.
Freo could do with some of that help

With the vic media (mostly) nuffies defending hinkley they have probably been given a directive from the afl to pump up his tyres so he doesn’t get sacked. They know he’s not good enough to get Port in a GF and fear that an overdue change of coach could “unleash a monster”. The bias is well and truly alive

LOL

The AFL media and North are taking the piss

Unless they plan on leaving Arden Street and relocating to Darwin, why the hell would they get free access to every indigenous kid from the Northern Territory ?

Why would the 17 other clubs agree to that?

They'll be NGA. Is it a much bigger advantage than the WA clubs having access to every Aboriginal kid in WA?

So the AFL will just draw a line a through the existing Northern Territory NGA zones of five Victorian clubs and hand it all over to North ?

Collingwood - Tennant Creek, Barkly tablelands
Essendon - West Arnhem, Tiwi Islands
Geelong - East Arnhem
Hawthorn - Katherine
Melbourne - Alice Springs

Why? In what way does this benefit the the AFL competition?

What have North done to deserve this free kick? They already get millions of dollars in handouts more than Collingwood, Hawthorn, Geelong and Essendon... and so now there's a push to gift them northern academy adbvantages like those enjoyed by the AFL's mollycoddled pet franchises in Queensland and NSW.

Isn't it time the AFL actually EQUALISED the competition by making the same rules for all 18 clubs instead of constantly giving out special advantages and side deals with various (favoured) clubs?

Agree that it seems strange if nothing else changes.

My take is it smells like the Roos will move from playing home games in Tassie to NT. I wouldn't be surprised if the plan was for North to become the NT club, but play half their home games in Melb to try to maintain that supporter base, as well as giving NT a club - NT isn't populated enough to maintain a club by themselves - so it's probably the best way for NT to have a team.

Plus have the existing clubs actually developed a player there or really done anything to help develop players - except a once a year clinic where some players fly up for a few days to hand out merch? By lumping them all together, you're more likely for the goal of development to be achieved.

Do SA and WA fans not understand that home ground advantage and away ground advantage exists between teams from the same city.

In SANFL Port had a home ground advantage playing at Alberton, and away disadvantage when playing Glenelg at Glenelg Oval and Norwood at Cooper Stadium.

Arsenal enjoy a home ground advantage at Emirates over Chelsea. Collingwood enjoyed home ground advantage against Richmond at Vic Park.

When both teams are familiar with a ground, their is no advantage for either, it is neutral.

When both teams travel there is no travel disadvantage, as both teams are travelling and are not at their familiar home ground.

Port and Crows 2024 Fixture is the below

11 with a distinct home ground advantage
3 neutral games
9 with a distinct away ground disadvantage

Yet the SA sooking continues.
Imagine actually thinking that Showdowns are neutral games where the home side doesn't have an advantage...

They are neutral from a ground advantage perspective. Both Port and Adelaide play 13 games at AO.

The Port "home" showdown, Port gets majority of crowd support. Adelaide "home" showdown, the Crows get majority crowd support.

So an advantage does exist, but it is closer to neutral than the full home ground advantage that Adelaide enjoy v Brisbane in a game at AO.
