He didn't bowl in the second XI. We're better off with Elliott, Crone, Ferg and either Perry or McClure than playing him as a bat

His lack of batting lately is a big problem. Rogers won't do it but need to be a part front line bowling 4.

I've been critical of him playing in the Shield side, and I hold BBL and T20 in general in low regard but reading that article with his desire for one more crack at playing at the G in front of a big crowd I can't help but hope he gets his wish.

Maybe. The other way of looking at it is there are so many cricketers in this country prioritising short format cricket that we now the worst batting depth this country has ever seen IMO. People go on about the aging test side, well, they have no choice but to keep playing these old guys as there is bugger all coming through. Short (like Maxwell should have but that ship has sailed) should be playing every Shield game he can.

I’m astounded by this. But not disappointed. He’s not going to make it as a red ball player in my view. Perhaps he wasn’t picked but used that reasoning
