Both Newman and Pattinson out LBW when on the verge of centuries. Hmm......

Now is the time for Petey Siddle to stamp himself on Victorian cricket. If he can get into Rummans, Craig, Jewell and Klinger then Dandy are a red hot go.

talking to my mate at my clubs 2nd grade grand final, he was saying "the dandenongs shouldn't be a name for a place in australia, sounds more like slang for you nuts, eg oh **** i just got kicked in the dandenongs"

saints are right up the creek. dandenong obviously bowled very well especially boraston. good on them. hopefully saints can make there weake batting line up crumble tomorrow... looks unlikely tho.

Hope Dandenong's "weak batting lineup" makes you eat humble pie. Ayres, Donnell, Sarna and Newman are first rate, much better than the blokes who hang on the coat tails of the big 4 bats at St Kilda

Cmon Dandy.

I went to see my old club play at Fawkner Park in their GF and thought I'd drop in on the way home to see the game at St Kilda. I only saw the last over of play. Looked at the scoreboard and it made no sense. Talked to a mate who played with the Saints up until last year, and he had to explain what the scoreboard meant.

I was stunned, but not nearly as stunned as Tony Dodemaide. A few of us, including the St Kilda President were having a beer after the game in the bar. Dodemaide walked in, looking ashen-faced and bewildered. He asked if someone had been mucking around with the scoreboard. We told him that was not what had happened.

Tony had one beer and then literally ran out of the bar, with the President's dogs barking furiously after him. Most extraordinary conduct. Most extraordinary game. Most extraordinary result. Still, that's cricket. Its unpredictability is lovely, isn't it?

aahha the presidents dogs bark at everyone

i think you are proving my point.
craig, klinger, rummans and jewell, (quiney should be there but injured) are all bigger names than those blokes, so hence are comparitively 'weaker'. thats all i'm saying. as for the other bats at st kilda in lalor, mcguinnes and o'sullivan, well i'm pretty sure they aren't hanging on to coat tails, they're handy in there own right.
dandenong have outplayed us this far and at the moment do deserve to win. hopefully the saints can come from no where and produce the unthinkable

What happened to St Kilda magic top 4 batsman, 34 runs between them, now that a "weak line up" do you agree nicho magic ;)
Danendong state players in Siddle and Pattinson 1 wicket between them. Be good if Warren Ayres finishes his cricket with another 100, that if he does retire

Go Dandy.

i'm talking about batting mate. siddle and pattinson are bowlers, correct me if i'm wrong. and yes our batting faultered, its going to happen some time isn't it, dandenong obviously bowled well.
oh and its a soggy wicket out at the junction, so its game on!!
however dandies lead could prove too much

tos has conceded defeat. congrats to dandenong. the final stand from sarna and hooper was big, and aggressive. st kilda's reign has ended, and congrats to tos on a great career, including 6 pemierships!

Where will O'Sullivan play next year?

Well done to Dandenong on winning, and to St Kilda on a fantastic era which, judging by the ages of their guns (Klinger, Rummans, Jewell and Quiney) may not be over just yet.

dunno i thought he may, and it was in the sun today, i'd suggest that will be it for him full stop. yeah i agree its most certainly not over yet. it does depend on rummans staying in vic, and warren as well. but with o'brien - 21,l beer 22, mcguinness 19, rowan 28 there is still pleantly left in the tank. craig still has a few years left yet as well.

Heard a small whisper that O'sullivan will head to Upwey (FTDCA) for about 20 G.

StKilda will be interesting to watch. You'd guess that Klinger, Jewell and Quiney will play more games for Vics, leaving massive holes in the batting. Rummans may move back north and the other bats (excluding craig) haven't proven themselves. The saints two's were disgraceful this year.

Arrogant on Tos' behalf on giving up before Kumar had a chance to make a 50 in a final.

I believe the Vandals play for St Kilda Cricket Club ;)
Nice try by the boys :p

Dandenong the toast after roasting the Saints

Ben O'Brien
April 2, 2007

DANDENONG is the toast of Premier Cricket after winning its first premiership since joining the competition in 1974. Celebrations began for the Panthers when St Kilda skipper Tim O'Sullivan conceded defeat at the tea break late yesterday at the Junction Oval.

Dandenong was 4-99 in its second innings, ahead by 245 runs after it had dominated play on Saturday when the Saints declared at 9-80 in its first innings, 146 runs behind. Yesterday's concession ended St Kilda's hopes of becoming the first team to win five premierships in succession.

More than 100 players and supporters crammed into the Panthers dressing room after the match to belt out the club song and begin what will be a big few days for the club.

Club president Michael Findlay said the win reinforced the claim the club can "belong and compete in the best competition in Victoria".

Controversy threatened to overshadow the occasion, however, when it was discovered the covers had been taken off the wicket early on Sunday. Curators arrived at the ground at 7.20 am to find that the covers had been removed, with only a hessian cover on the wicket.

The incident was put down to vandals.

Overnight rain meant the first session was washed out, but it did nothing to change the result or dampen Dandenong's hunger for its first flag.

Teenager Kumar Sarna finished unbeaten on 49 when the result was confirmed. Pace bowler Paul Boraston won the John Scholes medal for player of the final following his 6-22 in St Kilda's first innings.

It may have been the last appearance of two Premier Cricket stalwarts. While Warren Ayres will coach Dandenong next season it's unclear whether he will continue playing.

The loss could signal an end of an era for the Saints, though, with the match likely to have been Tim O'Sullivan's last in a decorated career that has included six premierships.

In other matches, Northcote claimed the second XI title with a thrilling two-wicket win over Geelong. Dragon player Francis Gill was man of the match.

Richmond claimed the thirds flag over Fitzroy Doncaster while Melbourne was made the fourths premier after tying with Prahran. Both sides scored 335 runs.
