Also just in front of me - I assumed it was a hit in the nuts - whatever it was he needed to steel himself as the ball was in the vicinity - in fact it was right next to him - what ever the short term pain he just needed to be aware the ball was loose and contribute an effort. if in pain he needed to come off - not brush the trainer off. Losing the second contest straight after was very poor. Really got the Dogs going.

I would like to see anyone contest when you can’t breathe. Get a mate to punch you and wind you and see if you can chase after him?

The reality is we are here with 2 games to go and Preuss, McKay, Larkey and Neilson have not played a senior game and LDU has played very few games. There has been no rebuilding going on compared to what other clubs are doing - these guys should have played some games this year.
Simpkin has played a lot of games. Ahern has played more than anyone would have expected. Walker has played a few, so did Murphy, EVW played until he got injured, Morgan had a run and was also injured. This year hasn't been either no rebuilding or full rebuilding - it's been in the middle somewhere. It's had genuine highs as well as a few lows. Today was crap but there's some revisionism about the season as a whole going on in the aftermath.

I agree there is that 20 seconds of pure pain and I would be curled over for 30 minutes but as a professional player you still need to keep awareness that the ball is in dispute - that the game is on. if its a broken bone or something sure - but he was right to go 10 seconds later.

No revisionism - the 4 blokes mentioned have not played a senior game - full stop.

Doesn’t work like that unfortunately. You see it in boxing all the time - one good kidney shot and you’re out of action for minimum 20 seconds.

Why is our delivery inside 50 so predictable?
I am convinced it must be instructional. It is so obvious and predictable to anyone who watches us, it must also be recognised by our coaching and playing group.
In one passage of play today, instead of bombing long to the oncoming pack we switched the footy inside 50, across the face of goal, the mark was dropped, however, for a split second we look dangerous and lively.
The only reason we would continue to deploy the 'bomb it long' tactic is if the Coach/s have an unwavering belief that:
-our forwards will mark the ball more often than not
- We trust our midfielders/small forwards to win the majority of ground level contests IF the forwards bring to ground
We are not winning on either account.
Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results????
Surely our playing list are capable of changing the way they deliver the ball into 50 - based on the instruction they receive?
If they aren't capable, probably don't deserve a spot.
If they are not getting alternate instructions, we have a bigger issue.
Has anyone out there got inner scrote exposure where they enlighten me here?

May as well be yelling at the clouds H2H

The only issue Marley had in that first one was taking his eyes off the ball by memory. If he just of attacked it and went at it like he normally does, it wouldn't of happened.

But it did. I don't question his courage...just made a bad decision that effected him for a bit from the whack in the right spot.... after that costed the side. He won't again.

Well Brad has said in the past that when you have Ben Brown down there why wouldn't you keep kicking it in there. But I didn't take that very seriously because you wouldn't be so blatant with what you do.

Hasn't been working but Ben is probably injured. Hasn't been clunking them. Doesn't help with what the opposition are doing but he was still clunking them 6 weeks ago.

Some obvious observations here
- if brown is getting double/triple teamed we have 1-2 others free, why can we never maximise this advantage?
- once we start using the spares to our advantage, opposition will be less likely to roll the dice and leave their own man, leaving Brown one out more often than not.
Perhaps too simplistic and outdated views, however, would live to see us try!

Yep super duper disappointing today. First time this season I've truly felt like shite after a game. So much on the line and to let a crap team like the Bulldogs play as they please in the second half was absolutey disgraceful. JJ, Daniels, Hunter etc simply racking them up with zero accountability from our guys. The 2nd half performance was the equivalent of missing a set shot 15 metres out in front......how the **** does a professional AFL player let it happen? How does a professional AFL side cough up a decent h/t lead with so much at stake and let a bunch of front running muppets like the Bulldogs kick 9 goals in a qtr?
We'll probably beat the Crows next week....other results will favour us going into the last game....we'll then end up needing to beat the Saints by 50pts to make finals but win by 47 after Wood misses another sitter with 30 seconds left..

Yeh it baffles me too. He gets triple teamed pretty much every contest. You'd think our forwards would be licking their lips. Its how it was working earlier in the year.

This year we were close to beating Lolmond, beat Sydney in Sydney and close to beating them in Melb. Beat WCE. Smashed Hawks. Beat Freo over there when they were going alright.

But failed each time against sides with speed. Port, Ess and WB. You could also throw in Pies but half the problem that game was lack of pressure and next to no tackling. Brad did some nice things during the year and considered as being coach of the year. Add in some speedy players, and class and we could look loads better and Brad's game may stack up a lot better.

But the last half of this year has been average from both the players and not as much imagination in the coaching box as before. Selection comittee didn't want to drop underperforming players.

‘Mid field pathetic’
3. North Melbourne

Blew a five-goal lead and maybe a finals spot against a team that had every right to raise the white flag only three games from the end of the season. Instead, it was North Melbourne that raised the flag. It was an opportunity lost. The midfield, which has earned plaudits this year, was swept aside by Lachie Hunter (44 disposals), Jack Macrae (40), Caleb Daniel (40) and Marcus Bontempelli (35 and two goals). Let’s be brutal, how do three players on the same team have 40 disposals in a game? Talk about being lazy, Billy, this was pathetic from the Kangaroos midfield.

Just got home from the game. How absolutely deflating. I really thought we'd be cherry ripe to go for the next 3 rounds and do maybe not a huge win but a somewhat okay win.

What an absolute disaster. We were just absolutely flat after halftime, half the team just didn't show up. You dont play like that with finals on the line. Goldstein was hot and cold all day and when he was hot it was only briefly. Maj was clunking his marks for the first half, dropped them when it mattered in the 4th. Clarke was his usual crap. Higgins was tagged hard. Brown was mongreled again, but had some good goals. Waite was in and out, and Mason just gave up on himself by the end of the game. Cunners was doing some beautiful stuff for most of the game but disappeared in the 3rd.

By god, that 3rd quarter. I joked to my mate after HT I said "we'll cough this up". half jokingly. Really didn't expect for my cynicism to be proven, that was an absolutely shocking third quarter. Our midfield got absolutely trounced. Coughed up like 5 goals in the first 10 minutes and then some. If we just kept our heads above water for that we could've won in the end.

Dogs weren't even playing that well to begin with, Umpires let them get away with murder.

Put the cue in the rack, seasons done. Its over. You don't play finals on that intent and form. Ziebell was the only one whos heart was in it. Walker tried his best.

Play Preuss next week for his send off game, cos clearly we're persisting with Goldstein from here on out, when we shouldnt have, Maj was doing far better hitouts.

I dont even know what to say. That ******* sucked.
I said the same thing to my mate at HT. I then said I would prefer us to only be a goal or two up so we come out thinking we still had work to do to win.

As for Brad"s presser, to flip off questions regarding the effect of the loss to our finals chances, **** me, at least half look pissed off like most of the supporters did leaving the ground.

No air, no action, doesn't matter how professional you are.

**** that. I’m super pissed.

We made a decision to have a shot at finals in front of player development and it has massively backfired.

If we finished mid table but developed the list then it’s not disappointing, but we didn’t we had a shot at trying to make finals and in the end have failed.

We are no closer to seeing who is the future as the majority of them have wallowed in the VFL.

All this year has now achieved is no finals, no development and a shit draft pick. A massive failure.
Dont forget our promising ruckman is out the door at seasons end. Another **** up by Scott's.

Couldn't even find games for the promising players ripping it up at vfl level. Doesnt rest taz or thommo for McKay. Deadshit development at it's best.
