Who cares how they hit their targets they’re terrorists they got what they deserve you wont find any condemnation around the world except for ***** , fancy being outraged by terrorists getting blown away bit of irony there.

Wouldn’t expect anything different from a newscorpse parrot like you. Go hack some phones you coward.

Smart of Israel in a way this modus operandi but looking at the bigger picture, too smart for their own good. This will galvanise Lebanon, Iran and probably other Middle Eastern countries to avenge these killings and Israeli influence in the geopolitical arena.

Agree, they may have outsmarted themselves this time.

I saw a brief report but haven’t been able to confirm that Israel also hit seven Hezbollah weapons sites.

The ABC also reports that the head of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, was making a speech condemning the attacks and Israeli jets flew over, creating a sonic boom to drown him out 🤣.

The point of all this is to drive back Hezbollah from Israel’s northern border so the residents can return to their homes without being ceaselessly bombarded.

Their targets were in Beirut.

Some people classify civilians as terrorists. Or have a weirdly high bar for what they consider acceptable 'collateral' civilian deaths or disruption.

So I guess, in a way you could say they're opposed to civilian deaths, but in reality it's a pretty malleable definition for some.

Well it is pretty obvious. Anyone working with or directly in material support of terrorists is one.

Firstly it is terrible that innocents have been killed and wounded.

US, UK & Aust in the meantime will just put their hands up, claim non-involvement and stand by watching this deadly war continue.

Some of Lebanon.

The Maronites would be extremely happy for Hezbollah to be wiped out.

Hezbollah has ruined Lebanon, the whole of the country isn't behind them.

I don't support the attacks and think all war is a crime but what I have done is suggested that the pager attacks were targeted and in the way I understand it, not indiscriminate.
I think the only way this could be discriminate would be if Israel had strong intelligence that these pagers were going to Hezbollah combatants only. This is possible, not saying otherwise. But not enough is known publicly.

Even then they might need intelligence of the exact whereabouts of each pager at the moment of detonation for it to qualify as discriminate (proportionality is also a consideration here), but I don't know exactly how much level of confidence the commanders need for this.

Like IEDs used in Afghanistan aren't illegal by default even though they could be triggered by civilians or combatants, but if they are used in areas civilians are just as likely to be harmed as combatants, that would be textbook indiscriminate. I think the same might be able to be said about the pagers.

I don't know if this was discriminate or not, I can wait for more evidence, but there is only a thin window of a way it could be considered discriminate and a number of ways it might fail on this criteria. Best to wait for all information.

Civilians can play a large part in such organisations.

Vietnam, Cambodia.

Lots of example of people from all ages taking part in combat and espionage in conflicts.

Hezbollah isn't viewed too fondly in Lebanon. I have Lebanese-Australian friends, most want rid of them.

Pretty sure that 9 year old girl who died wasn't a terrorist.

But then, you're one of those people with extremely malleable views as to what you consider a civilian.

There are reports that nearly IRGC soldiers were in possession of Hezbollah pages which exploded:

This hasn't been verified yet like the Iranian ambassador beeper story but if true not a good look for official Iranian military to be working directly with Hezbollah.

As if nobody knew that 🙄

Hezbollah runs the hospitals. I believe that some medical personnel are among the dead / wounded from the pager explosions.

A quick search can find no evidence of any doctors harmed by these devices. Do you have an example?

In any case, hospitals are a self run entity. Doctors work for the hospital, not for Hezbollah. Just as the same way that a doctor working at Box Hill hospital works for Box Hill Hospital, not the state government of victoria.
