Incorrect.

October 7th. The date that Hamas launched an unjustifiable mass atrocity against Israel bringing nothing but misery upon everyone in the region and giving Israel military justification for eliminating the threat Hamas pose.
So all of these are justifiable by you?

March 1 2023
Hundreds of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank are injured by mobs of armed Israeli settlers, who burn Palestinian homes to the ground and light vehicles on fire.

March 8 2023
A top official in the Israeli government, Bezalel Smotrich, calls for the destruction of the Palestinian village of Huwara.

June 21 2023
The Israeli Cabinet gives Bezalel Smotrich sole power to construct 4,500 new illegal settlements on Palestinian land. The next day, the Israeli military murders six Palestinians.

June 28 2023
Gangs of armed settlers, encouraged by officials like Smotrich and shielded by the Israeli military, carry out five days of pogrom attacks on over a dozen Palestinian villages.

July 7 2023
The Israeli military launches the largest raid in a West Bank city in over 20 years. It raided Jenin hospital, bombed Jenin refugee camp, and shot at journalists.

Now, I'll say this before Zidane comes in with his usual bullshit.

**** Hamas and everything they stand for

Oct 7 was absolutely horrible and I hope the remaining hostages are released without harm, but if people continue to ignore many events leading up to Oct 7 then they are only hiding from things they don't want to accept.

None of those incidents started the Israel Hamas war. None of those incidents justifies October 7th. Just like none of the below incidents would be sufficient for Israel to start a full fledge war by committing a mass atrocity in the West Bank either:

2022 Terrorist Incidents: The IDF reported 305 shooting attacks in 2022, triple the 91 reported in 2021. Most of the shootings occurred as Israeli troops entered Palestinian cities to arrest suspects allegedly involved in terror activities, but more than 40 of the shootings targeted Israeli civilians. The following is a representative list of terrorist attacks provided by Israeli authorities:

  • In March, a 26-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank killed five persons in Bnei Brak, a suburb of Tel Aviv. The attacker, who was killed by police, was not affiliated with a terrorist organization and had previously been imprisoned for planning a terrorist attack.

  • In March, a 35-year-old Arab-Israeli Bedouin man killed four persons and wounded two others in the southern Israeli city of Be’er Sheva by stabbing some of them and running over others with a car before being shot by an armed bus driver. According to Israeli authorities, the attacker was inspired by ISIS and had been imprisoned for five years for attempting to travel to Syria to join ISIS forces.

  • In March, two Arab-Israeli attackers shot and killed two Israeli Border Police Officers and injured 10 civilians in the Israeli city of Hadera. The attackers were killed by Israeli police shortly after the attack began. The two terrorists, from the city of Umm al-Fahm, posted a video before the attack in which they swore allegiance to ISIS.

  • In April, a 28-year-old Palestinian killed three persons who were sitting outside a bar in downtown Tel Aviv. The gunman was a resident of the refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Jenin. The attacker fled to a mosque in Jaffa and was later killed by Israeli security forces. According to Israeli authorities, the attacker was unaffiliated with a terrorist group, had no previous arrests, and was in Israel without an entry permit.

  • In May, two Palestinians killed four persons and wounded two others who were celebrating Israel’s Independence Day in the central Israeli city of El’ad. The attackers, from the West Bank city of Jenin, entered Israel illegally and killed their victims with an axe and a knife. After hiding in a nearby forest for three days, the attackers were found and arrested by Israeli authorities.

Israel began it's illegal occupation of Gaza and the West Bank in June 1967.
The war started on October 7th 2023 when Hamas launched an unjustifiable mass atrocity against Israel which kicked off the Israel-Hamas war.

Being occupied to the extent Gaza was occupied after the 2005 withdrawal does not justify a mass atrocity, nor would it to the extent it was occupied pre-withdrawal either.

She's our Foreign Minister. Does she, and by extension do we, want to be on the right side of history or not? More importantly, will she sanction and impose other meaningful punitive restrictions on Israel, representing the will of the majority of Australians, or will she endlessly and apparently shamelessly continue to kowtow to the jew lobby?

This is kowtowing to the jewish lobby?

Foreign Minister Penny Wong has expressed regret that Australia was unable to vote for a United Nations resolution calling on Israel to withdraw from the West Bank and Gaza within a year, saying the nation’s diplomats had tried and failed to redraft the motion to make it less contentious.

Australia’s ambassador to the United Nations insisted that, despite the country’s abstention, it was only a matter of time until Australia recognised a Palestinian state.
Believe it or not, right or wrong, but there's a big swathe of people who believe supporting Israel places them on the right side of history and they're not all Jewish.

Probably included in the proposed prisoner-swap demanded by Hamas.

Of course. "Contentious" to the Jewish lobby / Newscorp. Somehow 124 other countries found the wording acceptable.

I know, but it's a small minority. She's paid to represent the majority of Australians (in an idealistic democracy uncorrupted by business and other special interests).

Remember that long list of UN resolutions that Israel have breached?

Why do you keep ignoring them?

The "Jewish lobby" hysteria would be hilarious if it wasn't for the racism it helps create and perpetuate.
I didn't realise the AJA,AIJAC, Executive Council of Australian Jewry and the Zionist Federation of Australia have finally been dissolved. Great news! :D

2 out of 5 of these were committed by an Israeli in Israel, I hope you're not counting these as Palestinian murders due to their ethnicity?

The other 3, terrible incidents where I am sure the persons responsible were punished. Can you say the same for the Settler violence or indiscriminate IDF killings of West Bank residents?

How do you know that?

You can't know that either, the noisiest voices still only get one vote each. There's a lot of noise against Israel but when it comes to the vote, we can see that it's sometimes not representative of the majority.

They voted for it.

There are enough polls that it is reliable IMO.

Remember that long list of UN resolutions that Israel have breached?

Why do you keep ignoring them?
Because I don't really care about who broke ceasefires in a war that happened 60 years ago, for example? Which breach do you think I should be hyper mad about right now? Which breach of a UN security resolution do you think in some way justifies October 7th or in some way started the Israel-Hamas war?
I didn't realise the AJA and AIJAC have finally been dissolved. Great news! :D
No the scary Jewish bogey-lobbyist is still under the bed, I'm afraid.

An illegal military occupation is an ongoing act of war. It doesnt just end because its inconvenient for you.

How the Israel war lobby coerces regulators and employers to fire Australian critics of the genocide in Gaza

... On the morning of October 19, after receiving news from a friend trapped in Gaza about the bombing of the Al Ahli hospital, Farah Abdurahman, a media advisor to the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), published a LinkedIn post to express her dismay in a train on the way to work.

Abdurahman arrived at her desk at 9am as images were streaming into the world revealing the devastation at the hospital site, and her post was getting attention. Within moments, her post was being aired on the Ray Hadley show, and by 2pm, she was called in by her superiors, who initially sent her home for some personal leave under the pretence of ‘mental health care’, citing the attention her post received.

The speed with which Abdurahman was removed was remarkable. Within moments after Abdurahman posted, the Zionist lobbyists had sent screenshots to the Ray Hadley Morning Show on 2GB, who then relayed this information to the office of NSW Premier Chris Minns for comment. Within a small matter of hours, her organisation was made aware of the situation by the NSW Premier’s office.

Initially her directors “feigned concern” for her mental health about replies to her LinkedIn post calling her things like a “rape apologist”, before sending her home on what would turn out to be forced extended leave without pay. Farah would never return to her position at the DCJ.

Really? You think buying politicians and media, along with bullying and silencing dissidents is hilarious?

Sounds about right…
I think you and everyone else who makes hysterical statements about these lobby groups don't know what they're talking about, that's what I find hilarious. Look how you frame their activity. They "buy politicians", they "bully and silence" dissidents :embarrassedv1: :thumbsu:

Keep sticking your head in the sand if it pleases you, don’t let me stop you.

She writes for MichaelWest.com.au.

I must have missed the fuss on this. Albo, Wong and Dutton were referred to the ICC for complicity to genocide.

A team of Australian lawyers led by King’s Counsel Sheryn Omeri have referred Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and a number of senior parliamentarians to the International Criminal Court for complicity to genocide in Gaza. Farah Abdurahman reports.

Filed on behalf of concerned Australian citizens under Article 15 of the Rome Statute, Albanese is the first leader of a Western nation to be referred to the ICC for individual criminal responsibility in aiding and abetting the commission of genocide.

An illegal military occupation is an ongoing act of war. It doesnt just end because its inconvenient for you.
Kind of but a military occupation is not a war. These things are very distinct. The ICRC defines an occupation as an intermediary between war and peace, where both laws of armed conflict and peace apply. Like I said a few months ago, many armed conflicts are ongoing in the world, but not all armed conflicts are considered wars. You can say the Israel and Palestinians have been in conflict since 1948, but it would be inaccurate to say they have been at war for that long in any recognised sense.

The legality of the occupation or not does not change this status either. It just means the occupiers should bring the occupation to an end according to international law.

There is an ongoing armed conflict between Korea and North Korea since the 50s, but they aren't at war and this conflict is distinct from the Korean war which ended in 1953. If North Korea invaded Korea right now starting a war, no person in the world would say this war has been going on for 70 years. You could say the conflict has been, but the new Korea War would be called something like "the 2024 Korean War" and the situation would become totally different in terms of the kinds of military actions that could be legally taken by both parties.

Likewise the Israel-Hamas war started on October 7th 2023 as a result of an unjustifiable mass atrocity committed by Hamas.
