So IDF storming in and destroying roads, houses and killing 12 Palestinians isn't an act of war? Is it just a normal situation for you? How many Palestinians need to die before it can be called an act of war in your book?
Can you be more specific? It sounds like you're referring to a raid on Jenin which killed at least 9 militants in July 2023 but it could be the recent raid. Israel is not at war with the ruling government in the West Bank. The PA did not go to war with Israel after the raid either. If they did, then you could argue the raid caused the war.

What war do you think the 2023 raid started or was part of?

I never stated it aterted a war, just that it was an act of war. By what right do Israel Miitary have storming into a West Bank city, tearing up roads, storming a hospital, shooting at health workers and the sick all because they believe there to be bad guys there?

The PA didn't declare anything as they knew what the end result would be, unlike Hamas who didn't care.

We don't keep getting to turn a blind eye to all these incidents and go, oh it's just Israel in the West Bank/Gaza, noting new. Those good little farmers wont do anything, so it's fine.

Occupying powers have legal authority to have military presence and are able to carry out military operations in the territories they occupy for security reasons and to ensure public order spelled out clear in the fourth Geneva Convention and customary international law (Hague Regulations art. 43).

People like to talk about occupation all day but forget occupying powers have some legal authority in the territory they occupy too.

Thats interesting Jazny. Can you explain the difference between occupation and illegal occupation?

There is no difference as to the legal responsibility, authority and obligations of the occupying power or the protection of civilians under the fourth Geneva convention or customary law whether the occupation is considered legal or illegal.
