Oh dear I just found the Platform Stop Racism post announcing the cancellation of their Kristallnacht commemoration in which they called the antisemitic attackers "the people who resisted the hooligans". The article that the tweet Governable Patrol's posted comes from mentions this, but is conveniently clipped out of the tweet, no doubt because it shows what biased morons the organisers are.

They should change their name to 'Platform Racism' for accuracy.

The lady that filmed one of the videos, which many news outlets have claimed shows an anti semitic attack, says that the footage shows Israeli hooligans attacking a Dutch citizen. The news kid Bender's footage also confirms this.

People need to calm down on justifying violence against a whole fan base, nationality or ethnicity based on the actions of a few. I am happy to wait for more information to come through. But does it seem likely that this was a very targeted attack against the very specific Tel Aviv hooligans that directly provoked it? Probably not.

Based on what various leaders in Amsterdam it does seem to have been a more broad attack on anyone they found that was Jewish. But before I run around calling it a pogrom I would want more information on who the victims were, who the attackers were and why those attacks happened. Social media is full of misinfo.

This sounds like standard football hooliganism. Supporters are often attacked just for wearing their teams gear.

Other than standard increases in islamaphobia and anti semetism we've seen world wide, has there been other events similar to this in Amsterdam? I assume there are plenty of Jewish people who live in and travel to Amsterdam. If there was a genuine group who wanted to attack Jewish people just for being Jewish, it would have happened many times already you'd think. Or is this a stand alone event related to football hooliganism?

And I note the 'proper' journalist tag you've use here. These are trained journalists for respected media providers I've referenced. Judge their professionalism on their history and content - not whether they report things in a way you like/dislike. We lament the collapse of principled and trained journalism across the globe while being ignorant of our own role in hastening its demise by cutting and pasting stuff from social media just because it suits our own preferred narrative.

I think you're a fair and critical thinking poster GP, but adding this sort of spice to your posts does not add to your cred.

Elected offials have biases as well. With Dutch push to the right and guys like Markuszowers in the halls of power give pause for thought on statements from politicians.

Back-to-back UN reports have found famine is looming in the northern Gaza Strip as Israel continues an offensive which has killed mostly women and children in the locality. The UN's Famine Review Committee warned on Saturday of "an imminent and substantial likelihood of famine occurring, due to the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip". "Famine thresholds may have already been crossed or else will be in the near future," it said.

The body's last projection, made last month, estimated that 16 per cent of Gaza's population — 345,000 people — would face "catastrophic" food insecurity between November this year and April 2025. Since then, the committee said conditions have worsened in the north of Gaza — with a collapse of food systems, a drop in humanitarian aid and critical water, sanitation and hygiene conditions. "It can therefore be assumed that starvation, malnutrition, and excess mortality due to malnutrition and disease, are rapidly increasing in these areas," it said.

Israeli forces have intensified their assault on the northern Gaza Strip since early October, with aid shipments more restricted now than at any time since October 2023.

Yes I condemed the racist chants and burning a flag, I haven't heard of official reports of any Israeli acts of race based violence from the night, but if anything like that happened I instantly unequivocally condemn it. I wouldn't be desperately searching for fake reasons why it happened like "omg there was a little bit of noise coming from the Muslim crowd during a minute silence".

There are reports from the BBC of British Jews being assaulted after being asked if they were Jewish. Not sure how this could be justified. But keep searching twitter, maybe you will find out they were threatening their assailants with Jewish space lasers moments before the attack.
