The comments seem to fill in gaps missed or intentionally left out by the original tweeter, who knows.

Looks like maybe 3 different groups, Tel Aviv fans, a group of others looking to get stuck into Tel Aviv fans and Ajax fans who likely copped backlash from the Tel Aviv group in regards to the others.

I have no doubt anti-semitic slurs were shouted as I also have no doubt this particular group of club supporters would have been goading and gloating about current events back at their home. Throw in some football hooliganism on top and this was the outcome.

This kid is reporting ~1am the night after the match. Is this news? It's pretty well established that there was aggression and violence between Maccabi supporters and locals?

Meanwhile actual pogroms are happening regularly in the West Bank - nobody bats an eyelid.

It's a different view of what he was actually reporting. Given this is huge news at the moment and crimes were committed, it's not out of line in here.

Meanwhile actual pogroms are happening regularly in the West Bank - nobody bats an eyelid.

Nonsense.

Guys, I work for The Intercept now and figured out what happened.

The Maccabi fans illegally occupied a Palestinian flag which invoked UNGA 37/43 allowing the legal full violent mobilization of an anti-hooligan resistance force. When the resistance fighters appeared and started legally assaulting the Maccabi fans, the Maccabi fans panicked and invoked the Hooliganibal Directive which explicitly states that Macabbi hooligans must assault each other in order to prevent themselves being assaulted by anti-hooligan resistance fighters. Most of the assaults that occurred that night were Maccabi on Maccabi.

All reputable news outlets deliberately misreported this to favour a pro-Israel narrative because some of their staff rolled in the mud in Israel that one time which was totally epic.

Man, that's so Anti-Semitic of the Dutch Jewish community.

I'm sure the Mayor of Amsterdam who is the most important man in the universe will call them out for being such a bunch of Anti-Semitic monstors who called out such a well known group of upstanding men just there to support a football team and nothing more.

Ahh yes, the "Jewish community of Amsterdam" also known as Erav Rav :embarrassedv1:

I was just about to type that I wonder if there is another human being in the entire world dumb enough to fall for this framing... and in comes DapperDon :embarrassedv1:

That's like calling a post from the Westboro Baptist Church a 'statement from the Christian community in Kansas'.

There needs to be a license to operate the internet.

Such fine upstanding men.

Is there any Jewish community you're not an expert on?

Are these the wrong kind of Jews? Would you call them kapo maybe?

Ah, so you are questioning their Jewishness?

But you don’t question the Israeli hooligans, they are perfect angels!

Why pretend to be Ghost Patrol and DapperDon when you're not?

Would it be remotely accurate to describe Erav Rav as the "Jewish community in Amsterdam"? Or as Dapper puts it "the Dutch Jewish community"? You think they are representative of the Jewish community as a whole?

This is called misinformation. The goal is to make it look like there is some broad consensus among the Jewish community that is critical of the Dutch authorities and media labeling attacks against Jews on that night as antisemitic. When the reality is there have been multiple Jewish groups and leaders quoted in the press calling the attacks antisemitic. Chief Rabbi of the Netherlands Binyomin Jacobs, President of Netherlands’ Jewish Communities Ellen Van Praagh among them. I think they may be slightly more representative of how Jewish groups feel about the attacks than Erav Rav.

Quoting some fringe anti-Zionist group and labeling their opinion as "the Jewish community in Amsterdam" is so ridiculous. You have to admit it, otherwise you're just signing up to being wrong.

It's not representative of the Dutch Jewish community, I think they might be students. I hope the major representative Jewish body just ignores it and leaves him be to do his thing.

It’s a bit weird that you are happy to dismiss and ignore the anti-fascist Jewish community.

Have you not read the history books?

This thread is a live view of how misinformation works. Ghost Patrol's misinformation post being read by DapperDon and uncritically believed. Not only did DapperDon then go on to repeat it, but he even expanded upon it. That Erav Rav statement went from supposedly representing the Amsterdam Jewish community, but now the DUTCH Jewish community as a whole. Just unbelievable. The Chinese Whispers of misinformation over here.

People need to start caring about what is true and what is trash. **

Because it was an embarrassingly stupid and irrelevant deflection. I have already condemned all singing of racist songs and removing Palestinian flags by the Maccabi fans that occurred last week. If you can explain how that disgusting song is relevant to anything I have said or the events of the past week in a way that's remotely convincing I will donate $100 to UNWRA. If you can't explain it, admit it was an embarrassingly stupid deflection then we can all move on.

It shows what sort of people you are trying to defend. If they antagonise and threat and cause chaos then people have a go back you can't then claim anti-semitism as it's root cause.

Please link receipt of $100

So far my $100 is safe. The unhinged song was not alleged to have been sung this week or have anything to do with the antisemitic attacks, let alone was it alleged to be sung to directly antagonise the attackers. This video was posted on youtube 3 months ago. Even if it was sung this week, how would it justify the reported antisemitic attacks of people going around Amsterdam assaulting people for being Jewish or in one case for helping a Jew?

You're free to have another go. Have as many tries as you like. Explain the relevance of this song to anything I have ever said, any defense you think I have ever made of these people, or anything that occurred this last week in Amsterdam.

Never said they sung the song, but if you believe they were just walking along discussing where to have a cup of tea then that's on you. Only you can choose to see what you want to see and what you choose to not see.
