Current WAR CRIMES Israel - * ICC issues warrants for Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu & Yoav Gallant & for Hamas's Mohammed Deif

The ICC has also issued a warrant for Hamas leader Mohammed Deif, who Israel says they have killed.

According to the ICC, the chamber “found reasonable grounds to believe” that Deif was “responsible for the crimes against humanity of murder; extermination; torture; and rape and other form of sexual violence; as well as the war crimes of murder, cruel treatment, torture; taking hostages; outrages upon personal dignity; and rape and other form of sexual violence”.

It also said there were reasonable grounds to believe the crimes against humanity were “part of a widespread and systematic attack directed by Hamas and other armed groups against the civilian population of Israel”.

For Netanyahu and Gallant, who was replaced as defence minister earlier this month, the chamber “found reasonable grounds to believe” that they “each bear criminal responsibility for the following crimes as co-perpetrators for committing the acts jointly with others: the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts”.

It also found reasonable grounds to believe that “each bear criminal responsibility as civilian superiors for the war crime of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population”.

ABC live feed for updates.

Ceasefire to commence from Sunday 19th Jan (time TBC).

This is for stage 1 (of 3) with the details of the rest still TBC.

The agreement relates to a six-week ceasefire period. During that time:

  • 33 Israeli hostages held by Hamas will be released — these are primarily women, children, older hostages and those suffering medical conditions
  • The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would begin a phased withdrawal from parts of Gaza, particularly major population centres
  • The IDF would remain in control of border areas
  • Palestinians displaced from parts of Gaza would be allowed to return — particularly northern Gaza where hundreds of thousands have been forced out during the intense siege of the area since October last year
  • Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails will be freed — the number could stretch into the hundreds, in exchange for the prisoners

Your post neglected to mention the many innocent parties being returned by both sides. Wouldn’t want you to appear biased.
There is no both sides on this point. A judge has to approve of Palestinians being detained under administrative detention.

Hamas randomly kidnapped women, children and men for no reason, no suspected reason, other than the fact they were Israeli.

Hamas is demanding the release of convicted murderers. Israel just wants its hostages back.

There's 1,000 Palestinians being released that have been detained since October 7th but weren't involved.

But hey, I'm sure definitely never does anything against international law Israel had totally legit reasons.

So if a Hamas judge rubber stamped it, it would be called administrative detention?

Yes, Ghost Patrol. Excellent point. If Hamas went into Gaza, grabbed a bunch of civilians at random just because they were the ones they happened to find, then made demands on Israel conditional for their release, that would be administrative detention as long a Hamas judge rubber stamped it.

Plenty of zionist accounts are tweeting similar things about the ceasefire deal.
Seems many of them want to continue bombing Gaza.

I wouldn't call any of this a win for Israel, Gaza or humanity, which is greater than the sum of them all and which has been cynically and cruelly exploited for fifteen months.

It's sick.

Smotrich is declaring it a bad deal because he wants to resume a full scale war.

Pretty wild.

Yeah it is wild he's calling a fifteen month onslaught against Gaza a full scale war, if it's true.

If it had been a full scale war it would have been over with in the first three months.

At least 12 people were killed and several wounded in shelling in a residential block of the northern Gaza strip, the Palestinian civil defence reported early on Thursday.

Abubaker Abed, a Palestinian journalist, has reported on X that Israeli tanks are advancing into the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp, five kilometres north of Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza.

"Massive explosions," he wrote, saying a huge air strike had shaken the entire area.

This is exactly what Israel did leading up to the ceasefire in Lebanon. Agreed to one, then drastically ramped up their bombings up until the ceasefire.

Well, Gazans can go back to the tried and true peaceful protest route now and receive more of this benevolence from the IDF:

28.Those killed by Israeli soldiers, firing from behind the separation fence, included three medics and two journalists. A total of over 36,100 Palestinians, including nearly 8,800 children,108 were injured by Israel, including 4,903 people who were shot in the lower limbs, “many while standing hundreds of metres away from the snipers, unarmed”.109 156 of them had to have at least one limb amputated,110 and over 1,200 required specialised limb reconstruction treatment.111 The Commission found that the maiming was not accidental: the rules of engagement adopted by Israel permitted snipers to shoot at the legs of the “major inciters”.112 One Israeli soldier admitted that he shot “42 knees in one day”.113

Maybe it’s based on the actual definition of genocide

I'm not sure Israel's stated intentions or misguided heavy-handedness ever indicated that they wanted to destroy or ultimately occupy Gaza.

If anything, given Hamas' intent of killing and harbouring a large number of people and having a stated destroying the State of Israel is closer to the definition of genocide, but in my view isn't. It's a war crime and terrorism, but the term genocide needs to be reserved for genuine cases of genocide and not the horrible fallout from warfare.

People far more learned than you or I have called it a Genocide. The ICJ has a case before them investigating it as a Genocide.

Let's not pretend it's not a realistic chance of being an attempted Genocide.

Alice Wairimu Ndaitu, official UN advisor on the prevention of genocide until November 2024, openly declared that the current Gaza war was not genocide. There is no source you can quote that tops the UN advisor on the prevention of genocide in terms of neutrality, bias & credibility.

There are ongoing allegations she was fired in November for her stance on Gaza:

So this deal is more or less the same deal that both Israel and Hamas have rejected at various points?

You can't make up the level of stupidity that happens in real life, because nobody would believe it!

Hamas rejected a permanent ceasefire on UNSC 2735 10 June 2024 that was tabled by the US in the UNSC and even passed the UNSC after 14 votes for, 1 abstention.

This resolution is very similar to the one that's just being agreed aside from the stipulation that Palestine must be governed as a united entity following the end of the war with a view to agreeing a permanent two state solution.

And before the usual suspects try, the text of this resolution clearly states Israel accepted it and called for Hamas to accept it.
