Well done Kosi, brilliant game on Sunday. I thought it was over for him, he was playing horrific football and I figured it was only a matter of time before Ross stopped perservering with him. I had decided the writing was on the wall and his best was far behind him. And then he comes out and delivers that sort of performance. My hat is off to you big man. :thumbsu:

He should've gotten a number of free kicks that he didn't get. If he was Monfries he could've been best on ground. I was praying that he didn't get suspended just as he was hitting form and thankfully he's available for selection next week.

Also, just on a side note. Very unlucky for Raph. He was playing some great footy and now he's been hit with another injury. Hopefully he comes back with that form in mind.

was a very good sign today, now 2 rounds in a row he has played good footy. But 2 good matches isnt good enough, heres hoping he produces his best onward and thoughout finals, we need the big man :thumbsu:

on a side note, how long till Rooey's back? i think once we get our twin towers lining up in the same forward line it's gonna spell disaster for opposing defences

Yes, I am prepared to eat some humble pie. Tip of the cap to Kosi and Brett Peake... and to think the defence held the fort down without this forum's All Australian and All Pro FB - Zac Dawson

I didn't get to see the game but great news that Kosi had a good one.

How did Stanley play & what happens to him when Riewoldt returns?

Stanley was OK, didn't do a great deal offensively but worked hard defensively to maintain forward line pressure. Even though he isn't kicking many goals himself, he is still helping our structure by stretching opposition defences and freeing up space for our other forwards.

Not sure if he will keep his spot when Riewoldt returns. Kosi's form is improving and I'm not sure we have room for all three tall forwards in the forward line, especially on smaller grounds like Etihad. On bigger grounds like the MCG we might look at playing all three though.

Thanks Plugger35, that's what I thought. He will have to make his mark in the next few weeks while Riewoldt is out.

Does anyone think there is a chance that McEvoy is a chance to go out of the side and not Stanley?

How likely is it that Stanley continues in his current role, Roo becomes a stay at home forward (to limit his running) and Kosi begins a new role similar to an Ottens type ruck/forward?

I guess that's another possibility. Kosi could go in the ruck and Riewoldt and Stanley could play as the two key forwards. Kosi has looked quite good when he has played in the ruck recently and Riewoldt and Stanley combined well up forward during the NAB Cup when they played together.

I still think Lyon will stick with the old set up of two specialist ruckmen and Riewoldt and Kosi up forward but it's handy to have other options if that isn't working.

Even though he had the fumbles at ground level, I do like that the opposition cannot get any rebound through his opponent. And at some stage he will break free and own a quarter of footy. His real impact in the VFL has been around the ground as a ruckman (rather than a stay at home forward).

Correct. He was incredibly important for us on the weekend - did a really great job in creating contests, putting pressure on Freo players and giving us a contest.

McEvoy is ahead of Stanley as a ruck. I think he's doing really well and he has a big body to bang against the seasoned rucks like Ottens and Jolly when it matters in finals.

Of course, my suggestion was that Kosi assumes a ruck rotating forward position, and Stanley continues to play a role forward.

I think that's a good idea. McEvoy doesn't seem to get much game time... is there somewhere I could find the statistics on that?

I think that Stanley has to play against Geelong if we meet them again in the finals. They are just too good at double and triple teaming our tall forwards. We need another tall against them to take a tall defender away from Riewoldt.
