Mel Jones said it perfectly on the Blast. Batsmen set up tournaments, bowlers win championships. I hope that’s the final the other options don’t interest me much. We know the Canes won’t be good enough and the Heat are just as likely to be rolled for 100 like they were today and luckily escaped with a point.
The Heat made 104 from 10 overs

Six-Shooter. It's a copy editor's dream.

Given CA's Powers That Be all intently read this thread, I must once again air my grievance about finals being played in neutral cities. Gotta change the system in the future so that the 3v4 final would be in Brisbane on Wednesday, the 2 v 3/4 final in Adelaide on Friday, then the decider in Sydney on Sunday.

They seem to schedule WBBL how they should BBL. The mens calendar is jampacked yet they insist on it lasting 2 months whereas this WBBL hasn't seemed to drag too much at all and the women's calendar is probably 1/4th what the mens is. Agree it is a bit of the shame the Heat can't host that at AB field as they get a good crowd.

Would you like to be a spectator attending 7 games over 3 weeks? Cost me $100 at the cricket on Thursday.

I like the Strikers' chances. Maybe slightly unfair on their opponent though.

If you come 3rd or 4th you don’t deserve advantages. Actually think the system suits coning second. I like to have a final before the grand final

I quite like the current system, the team that finishes first gets the greatest advantage, the team that finishes second gets home ground advantage for the first final and the teams that finish 3rd and 4th have to travel. Perfect. This is the finals system the BBL should use not the stupid final five they've had for the last season or two.

And I agree with LP, Saturday night is the perfect time for the Grand Final, can't have it on Sunday night, especially if there is no Public Holiday on a Monday.

Yeah advantages go to teams 1&2. Personally I’d rather come second as going cold into the big final would be a worry but I do feel this year we’ll see the top 2 sides in the final anyway.

Yeah Saturday night suits Sydney especially North Sydney it’s not the easiest ground to get to and from. Saturday at least ensures that you don’t care when you get home. I’d struggle to go to a Sunday night final as I start early Mondays

It's only a week and the Sixers are the oldest team in the WBBL, I think they will like the extra time off. The Scorchers did last year.

Possibly and you may be right. Don’t think it will matter. Strikers will smack whoever wins Wednesday anyway and we’ll have a fantastic final.

Only one I disagree with is JJ. It’s one of her or Ecclestone. Why do we need two left arm orthodox spinners. I would have picked Wellington as the leg spinner, think she was better than King, I know Kerr is there but she’s an AR nowadays. Strano had a good year but surely an opening bowler was needed there too, perhaps Nicola Hancock.

Too many spinners for mine. Need an opening bowler, Shutt wasn’t the only good one this season. Like the Hancock selection.

Sutherland over Perry is the correct call

Four Heat players and only three Sixers, yet the Sixers went through the regular season with only two defeats, a record low for the competition.

No Perry, but Redmayne and Healy make the list, one of the wicketkeepers should be dropped for Perry who played the number 3 perfectly all season. My pick would be Redmayne because she missed a third of the tournament and didn't finish as strongly as she started before being injured, although after her century Healy was a little underwhelming as well.

Five Spinners (not including Burns) is overkill, but then Spinners dominiated the top 10 wicket takers list. Perhaps they could have gone with an extra pace bowler, but after Schutt, Hancock and Sutherland the next best was Cheatle with 15 wickets and I'm not sure that's enough to warrant a spot, although being a leftie would be a point of difference.

That team has only one recognised batter, so perhaps they could have gone with an extra batter and brought in du Preez who also had a very good tournament.

My Team would be:

Mooney (Scorchers)
Healy (Sixers)
Perry (Sixers)
Gardner (Sixers)
du Preez (Hurricanes)
Sutherland (Stars)
Burns (Sixers)
Kerr (Heat)
Jonassen (Heat)
Hancock (Heat)
Schutt (Strikers)
Wellington (Strikers - 12th)

They always OTT the spinners happens every year. Personally can’t believe Heather Graham isn’t there. At least they picked Redmayne as keeper unlike our selectors who give the captaincy to Healy.
