if your a less top heavy batting team, I can understand why the Thunder choose to take the Power surge a bit later. Adelaide is a deeper batting line up.

Thunder took their surge yesterday in overs 16 to 17. They know they cant rely as much on batters 7 onwards to score their runs.

To be fair yesterday Knight and Lichfield were going at 8’s or whatever the overs prior, didn’t actually need to surge. Hopefully next year we get rid of this surge it’s a trash concept

I actually dont mind it.

it offers something different to international cricket. Im guessing Cricket Australia want to be innovative. It becomes more a tactical game.

The one that was a rubbish idea was giving bonus points, a few years back for the team with most runs at the end of 10th over.

Doesn’t prepare our bats one bit for international games it’s a terrible idea.

I kind of agree with that.

But batsman these days should be flexible and should be able to adapt to game situation.

eg Matt Short should be able to adapt batting down the order

or Someone like Inglis should be able to go come out and go bang in the powerplay (he traditionally bats around 4 for Perth)

No issue doing it for the WICL or whatever the warmup tournament is called but we need to be playing international rules in our WBBL. Openers have become lazy internationally by crabbing around eg Mooney and wasting our whole powerplay in the WC
