I drove passed it yesterday from both directions (not at once, obviously- but only because my gearbox wouldn't allow it ) and it really is an imposing spectacle whichever way you approach it, but especially from the city heading SE. The fact that it is built on a hill overseeing the surrounding area only adds to the grandeur. If anyone is planning on being anywhere in the general area it is worth a diversion just to have a quick look. It will certainly make the club a standout feature of that region and it has to be good for our profile for that reason alone. Nobody could drive passed it without noticing it and being a little awed.
are the gates open normally during the day ? how about saturdays ?

i might head up tmrw its 5-10 mins from me

You'll need to have a look from the street. Old Dandenong Rd near the roundabout gives an okay spot to stop car and have a look. Or on the Dingley Bypass or Penninsula freeway but on both you're driving too fast to have a look and nowhere to stop.

Entrance is on Tootal Rd but not accessible for the public and you can't see anything from the street. You could probably drive in after a truck or something but you'd get asked to leave pretty quick i'd say, it's a construction site so anyone there would need induction and have white card, PPE etc...

It’s a construction site.

The following is said in a calming voice, so don’t come at me if it sounds like anger.

As someone who works on construction sites every day, no one should be onsite unless they are supposed to be there.
Most people don’t realise the dangers to both themselves & workers when people are onsite who shouldn’t be.

I’d suggest you wait until the site is handed back to HFC & then visit.

What’s with the proclivity for people to beep you on Tootal road?

It's been a while since the last update from the club on the progress of KCC, wishing they release another aerial update soon!
If they don't post something soon I will walk down and take some good pictures. From what I can see the Harris ETAF is very very close to having the exterior completed.

Meaning Roof and walls are pretty much done and that can move inside to make the rooms, flooring, painting, electrical, plumbing etc... that being said in the tour video with Dunstall, Hodge, Crawford and co you can see that there is already a lot of electrical, data, HVAC and plumbing already in place.

The Community Pavilion is standing out on the hill, it's hard to get a good view but it looks to be at a similar level with walls and roof, including the big canopy over the grandstand seating.

I suspect the club is waiting to do another update showing the exterior of the buildings complete.

I assume there will be more monthly updates now with footy season starting and the return of the clubs monthly emails also think this is from last week so not really up to date but

Monthly member update from Andy Gowers

Along with our endeavours on the field, we are set to undertake an extraordinarily transformative year for our entire football club in 2025. It fills me with immense excitement to finally be able to say ‘later this year’ we will be making the move to our new home in Dingley, the Kennedy Community Centre. There will be lots happening ahead of the move, and we will keep you updated throughout the entire process. From a construction point of view, key internal works are now underway on the Harris High Performance Centre, including level 1 wall framing, ceiling works, and facade cladding. Over at the Community Pavilion, facade cladding is also set to take place after the steel structure was completed. And after turf was laid down on our two training ovals at the end of last year, both fields are almost nearing the end of their establishment period, and we will soon move to maintaining them.

As we move closer to our transition, we are committed to ensuring our integration into the Dingley community is genuine and meaningful, and as such, we continue to engage with a range of local and regional groups to ensure these new relationships are valueds and have a mutual, long-lasting impact.

Towards the end of last year, we shared that the club had begun exploring what the sale or lease of our existing home at Bunjil Bagora, Waverley Park might look like. We expect to be taking some steps in this space over the next couple of weeks so you may see some media coverage about it. I will continue to be in touch with you as the process continues and update you accordingly

Talking to one of our staff yesterday in the tent where the KCC info was, he said that we’ll have more pools than ever before.
Hot and cold pools as well as magnesium pools/baths. When I quiz him on this, he said that every club is trying to get these in because they’re at the cutting edge.

He also said they’ll be a café downstairs in the foyer and that they’re currently planning the second part of the build which will involve basketball.

Yes south side of the AFLW/Community oval will be car park initially but it's planned for a basketball stadium to be build there in stage 2 that connects to ETAF and Pavillion.

Know it’s not directly AFL and KCC related but…. City of Kingston would surely be silly not to pick up the phone to Melbourne Victory and partner with them aswell
I'm still not sure about that plan, not sure there is a need for another 7 ovals and 7 soccer fields and 5x hockey fields. There are already many in the area. Lots of it is private land they'd need to acquire too.

Certainly some stuff needed but Kingston would be better off funding stage 2 of KCC to to get a basketball stadium in the area, perhaps make it a full blown sports and aquatic Centre with Olympic pool, gym, spa sauna, basketball, squash courts etc..
