There has been lots happening at our future home in Dingley, the Kennedy Community Centre. This past month we have seen the light towers installed around the AFLW Oval. This, of course, was made possible in conjunction with our partners VAILO and is a significant milestone in the build of the facility. As we mentioned last month, structural steel erection is continuing to take place throughout the Harris ETAF, with the players’ zone an area of focus this month. Notably, several sections of the steel erection are now complete, including the administration area, indoor theatre and indoor training field. Meanwhile, roofing works have also commenced. Out on the main training oval, sand has been laid in readiness for first turf placement to commence from early November. This is an important step as we look to have the turf in great condition for our players next year. The same sequence has started at the AFLW Oval, with those turf works anticipated to be completed by end of the calendar year.

As we inch closer towards making the move to our new home, naturally there will be increased interest in what the future looks like at Bunjil Bagora, Waverley Park. For some time now, much work and planning has been done to ensure the use of Waverley Park is optimised, whilst being respectful of the historical prominence the facility has to Australian Rules Football. While no final decision has been made, the club is currently exploring what the sale or lease of Bunjil Bagora, Waverley Park might look like. The enormity of moving away from such an important part of Hawthorn’s history is not lost on us, and as such, the club is determined to ensure all discussions are rigorous and thorough. We will update you further on this process once we have more information.

Without a tenant being able to play games there, the attraction will be limited.

Such a as Monash uni might want to step up its footy program if that wasn’t the case

Anyone know how often Google Maps updates? Looking forward to seeing that update with the grass.

What's the dimensions of the two ovals? I'm sure I read the main one is the same as MCG, but the AFLW one looks a lot narrower.
From memory I thought one was going to be the same dimensions as the MCG and the other Marvel.

So what's happening to Waverely again? Hoping we retain ties to the ground, not just being a fortress in the 80s and 90s but as our home base for 4 flags Maybe keep the Kanga statue there?

Mirvac and the local council would want to be more proactive than the boroondara hawthorn council.

Pretty much nothing has happened at glenferrie for 2 decades

AFLW oval has grass!

That's the main training oval with the grass, AFLW/community still dirt.

AFLW oval is the one closest to Tootal Rd with the grandstand on the wing. AFL training ground has the Harris Family elite training and administration building behind the southern goals.

AFLW oval is marvel size and main training oval is MCG size but probably a bit bigger so they can do different lines for other ground layouts.

The thumbnail is indeed the AFLW ground.

Would be really odd not to have the Kanga statue at the centre named after him.
Slightly off topic, but for a 4 time premiership player i feel John Kennedy Jr slips through the cracks a bit (hell, even his name been hijacked by one of America's most popular presidents!), so I wonder if his legacy too should be incorporated as part of the 'Kennedy Community Centre'? I hope so.
