The mid-season draft has become a regular fixture in the footy calendar, and its next instalment arrives on Wednesday. ESPN draft expert Jasper Chellappah takes a look at who each club might take.

Pick 5: Hawthorn

The Hawks have a need for key position depth and the WA talls Blight and Scaife should be considered. Closer to home, Dragons key back Lachlan Voss has attracted interest. The 199cm 19-year-old has overcome injury struggles to prove his consistency this year.

Geelong Falcon Will McLachlan has been ultra-impressive booting 26 goals from his six games, playing above his 185cm height as a marking option across half forward. McLachlan will be considered at the pointy end of the draft and Hawthorn is right in the frame.

That turned out to be a good tip.

I think it's just absolutely brilliant. What a factory we have developed. If you're a young kid who misses out on the draft, what better place to improve your wares than the BHH.

He wasn't good enough and has obviously improved, did better at wafl than wafl reserves so I hope it's a good sign.

I have watched zero VFL, so dunno how the Pies have used Long at that level, but given the lack of KPD at the Pies and Mihocek's injury (among others), I wonder if they'll play Long fwd as an undersized, 'competitive' key fwd. I hope they do.

We got the best one from Box Hill which was Newcombe - not even sure Maric and Hall would be best 22 for us anyway…
