The pies board is just 'wow' but it would only be the bottom 5% and effergy burners on there now, they don't represent the whole board and supporter base. I do re-call 20 pages of angry 'mummy's boys' sentiment from us last year, along with the celebration of tweets essentially bullying the young guys that left from rocky and Hanley, our behavior then, could largely be viewed in the same vein as the current collingwood posts from outside looking in.

I also feel that claye doesent need to feed the trolls, it's footy, people are passionate and his brother is a great player. I Just know that getting a response when your angry from your intended target, and to know your being felt and heard by your intended target is the only 'goal of the troll'..

I agree with a lot of that, Lukius, but I think it should be pointed out that this board's reaction to the go-home five was nowhere near as nasty as the Collingwood board is at the moment.

I suppose it's just a question of degrees, but we shouldn't get confused into thinking there's some sort of moral equality between intense disappointment and nasty, personal, vitriolic anger.

I just read Claye Beams' tweet for the first time. I struggle to post tweets so I won't bother, but it's on the AFL trade week feed.

But dear God, how could anyone possibly find that objectionable? He is absolutely spot on, and has far more invested in this than any of the people criticising him. Even the really nasty trolls out there must appreciate that there are even nastier trolls around. This seems to me to be a measured, entirely appropriate response to a wave of vicious anger.

I understand that there are different standards for professionals and public figures, but in no way does Claye fail to meet those standards in that tweet.

When it all happens, they get to announce it as some kind of mega-deal that's a big win for them overall. It also creates the impression that they were the ones in control of everything and getting the other clubs to do their bidding.
