We come back a week later and add Crisp to the deal - great, and the Pies agree. They then uneccesarily involve all these other other clubs to make it appear they didn't do a deal direct with Brisbane after their false deadline.

However, now we are all celebrating saying that the Pies caved. But wasn't it us that increased our offer, therefore we caved?

Not really important in the washup, and turning a direct deal into a 5 club deal for PR purposes is eternally lame - but at the end of the day, we had to increase our offer to get him, and we did.

It was a double double bluff. Collingwood knocked back 5 and 25, cancelled all contact Friday, we dropped that we'd give Pick 5 to Essendon for Ryder, suddenly Collingwood realise we called the bluff and re-enquire when a news story says Crisp would be happy to go to Essendon.

Thats the thing thats skipped a lot of the news articles, originally it was thought Crisp would go to Essendon and we'd get their second rounder or something.

Congratulations on landing Dayne Beams. Still only 24 and is about to enter the prime stage of his career. He's about the same age as players like Rockliff, Rich, Redden and co and he will complement that midfield very well given he's a proven goal kicking midfielder and an A-grade player. The Lions are building a very nice midfield indeed.

Redden is starting 18 - Crisp isn't. Picks can be anything...

I don't personally care who thinks they won, I just find it strange that both sets of supporters are so adamnant about who won this and who won that, and celebrating accordingly.

At the end of the day, he wanted to come to us. All we need to do was satisfy them in a trade, and we did.

They were never going to be happy, because they lost a superstar. We were always going to be happy, because we were gaining one and only giving up numbers in a draft.

I find the entire concept of visiting other teams board to gloat a bit childish, just as I find it strange they would visit ours. There is a thread on neutral ground for discussion with opposition fans. I just had my first visit to the Collingwood board, and won't ever go back. Not because they are all headless tools, but because they see things through their view as a Collingwood fan, and I see things through my Lion glasses.

Maybe I'm getting too old for all this, but I'm very happy we got Beams and thats the nuts and bolts of it.
