I wish anyone else was Lachie Jones.
IMO if Jones actually finish these simple marks, he'd be having a good game right now.
He's being involved, often in the right place defensively but the finishing is brutal.

I got dismissed for telling everyone pre-draft the media was overrating a medium defender (saying we should pay a high pick for him) and for after the draft saying we got sucked into matching a bid for a player who should have been a pick in the 30-50 region.
Wish I wasn’t right.
It’s really really hard to see how we correct what is wrong in his game.

Worst game I’ve seen from a port player and that’s saying something
Not even close to AFL standard. First time I saw him play was for Eagles in SANFL and his hands were terrible, fumbled everything. Nothing has changed.

Was a stinker. However, got to all the right places. Read the play. At times out competed Brown or Gawn. Participated in some great defence link run.
And he dropped a crap load of marks. And they were costly. He fumbled a couple of times. And it was costly. He dump kicked a few times or missed targets and it was costly.
He looks like he is 30, with years of experience under his belt. He is actually 21, less than 50 games to his name, most of which he has been shunted around to cover the teams needs.
I suspect he is a confidence player who needs time and games to build. The expectation however, is that he will be a gun from the get go. He has some seriously good traits - can read the play, is super athletic, has elite skills. If he, and we, can get the best out of him, he will grow into a great player.
On notice but I think he needs to be backed in. Give him the confidence to find form.

Pffff. I was of the same opinion last year but this year, I expected improvement. He plays in a position that can't afford to have confidence issues. Shape up or ship out season for Lachie.

Disagree.
Williams is a great footballer, but he doesn’t play the same role as Lachie, nor does he get to the same number of contests. If he did, yea he takes those marks and we are better off, but he doesn’t get to them.

I think he’s an instinctive player, when he doesn’t have time to think he doesn’t make mistakes when he has time to think he can drop absolutely anything and everything.
He can’t play next week based on that, he needed to be subbed out.. he was absolutely shot.
