Webber and Ricciardo?

Wonder how Ricciardo will go in F1. There have been some instances of drivers who aced junior formulae but didn't do well in F1. But being in RB's junior development program would help, he'd have RB F1 people to tutor him.

at the end of last year when they had the young drivers test he went pretty well.

he had a significant amount more time than the other drivers, but from memory his first day time was top 2?

Will be interesting at the test this year, he gets the full test in the RB6, his team mate in FR3.5 gets a full session in the STR

Does anyone know how he went in the test session on the weekend?

I can't seem to find anything.
The test session isn't for a couple of days. Webber was going to do it, but is getting the rod taken out of his leg.

Hopefully there's some footage or something of it, would be great to see how he goes.

It would be pretty gruesome I would have thought seeing a piece of metal being removed from a leg, but each to their own.;)

Would you be happy if Williams signed him up?

Judging by the times he's put in, it seems - on paper - that he's a better option than Maldonado, so yes, I would be. Having said that, since I don't have access to other data aside from the times - and given that Ricciardo was driving the best car on the F1 grid, I'll just have to trust the judgment of the Williams talent scouts.

Sounds like Lotus may be Ricciardo's best chance. Especially seeing as try are getting RBR parts. Otherwise I'm guessing it'll be GP2.

How strong are Lotus likely to be though? Will they be able to challenge the midfield?

I doubt it. Even with the Renault engine deal, and Mike Gascoyne at the helm of the tech department, which might put them ahead of Virgin and HRT, I think it is highly unlikely that they'll finish higher than 9th in the constructor's championship next year.

Williams are a better bet for Ricciardo ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Williams get rid of The Hulk because he doesn't have the sponsorship money attached? If they were after talent they would have kept Nico I would have thought.

From what I hear, Williams wanted to sign Hulkenberg on a multi-year deal, which would "loan" him to HRT for 2011 while Williams gets some sponsorship money from Maldonado. Understandably, Hulkenberg said thanks but no thanks, he doesn't want to go to the back of the grid. It's a shame, really, and I think Williams will one day regret this decision.

I don't want Williams to get Maldonado. To put it bluntly, he's a dud. It took him several years to get the GP2 championship, while Hulkenberg did it in one - as Maldonado's teammate. Williams are seemingly going to replace a talented future star with a less talented no-name pay driver, and I'm not happy about this decision. It may not officially be a done deal, but it's probably F1's worst kept secret at the moment. I hope that Williams will at least reconsider - based on the fact that Ricciardo beat Vettel's pole time in the same car, it looks as though he's the far better choice as far as rookie drivers for next season goes.
