Don't think the crowd figures back up that it's still as popular as it once was. Still a healthy crowd though.

Watched sparingly throughout the day. Think it's just lost some of the Bathurst magic that used to be there. Only 1 car not finishing is crazy. Has removed a lot of the drama we all know and loved.
 
I listened to a Mark Skaife interview with Daniel Harford. The Supra was brought up and he was going on about for the cars in supercars to be "aspirational and affordable".

If that's how they want it, then they can have that way I suppose. What they don't recognise, though, is that that is what GT racing is.

The Bathurst 1000 is for ordinary everyday cars, or their representations, slugging it out.

It's why it's half arsed. Not a GT series, not a "supercar" series. Not a touring car series.

Why are the Camaros dominating at Bathurst every year? It’s why I’m not watching. At least give a man some hope now that my favourite driver, Lowndes, isn’t a chance of winning anymore.
If not for a silly driver error, he probably wouldve been on the podium again this year. Cooper Murray was lightning fast.
