As there probably wont be much difference between picks 8 and 13 we essentially got Polak for a 3rd round pick. That's a bloody good deal!

Polly was my favourite player in 2003 when he was young and fearless and marking everything that came his way. If he can't get over the top of a pack, he'll just back into it. Despite what people say he has more courage than is probably good for him, and some of his injuries are from impact at high speed and high off the ground. His weaknesses are his decision making (...), and of course the well-publicised problems with his kicking.

Funny how much attention is devoted to Collingwood in this thread. Pick 8 alone would have been good enough. I could pick the players and we still should end up with at least one 200 game AFL star from this draft. But we also get a chance at reviving the career of one of the most talented small forwards in the league. There is a decent chance he won't work out but its not like he is a no hoper without talent. Funny how people can bag Tarrant as a dud, yet find good things to say about him when it suits their argument.

Miller and Wallace clearly have something up their sleeve in relation to the draft and weren't too fussed about downgrading our pick 8 to #13.
Must be targeting someone who they think will be still available regardless of whether we have #8 or #13.

if we are picking a player who the club knows will fall to 13 and other clubs dont rate him then why the hell are we doing it

maybe they see something the others dont each club is building towards a different direction, some players may be high quality buy would be useless for our plan, eg: too slow, not versatile

Probably because we were never getting the top half dozen. Therefore anyone we had our eyes on who would be picked up then would be out of the question. Next step would be to see the type of player we want instead of the best player available. They obviuosly think that the typr of player we want will be around at 13.
