What Sharp offers us is very tangible and you notice it every time he gets the ball on the wing at Optus and runs. JOM dissappears for most of the game. His role is much easier to replace.
JOM is the defensive sweeping wingman. I don’t think he’s irreplaceable but I also don’t think NOD or certainly Sharp can do what he does.

Maybe Erasmus goes in for Brayshaw who plays JOM’s role.

O'Driscoll and Sharp don't play the same role. Sharp has the rubbish hard running role on the outside, offering an option for the switch and blocking his opponent being used there too but they mostly spend the time running together and chatting while the game goes on the other wing.

O'Driscoll is a stoppage mid that can impact from the wing.

If he wants to be impacting stoppages he's going to have to do it from the nearside wing as he's never going to be good enough to command a primary inside rotation.

I disagree, I think that's where he has the most impact and I don't think we have another player his size that can move at his speed through there. If he had a better field kick he would be spoken of beside Hayden Young by end of 2025 but he will send plenty of ball into our forward fifty all the same.

We can easily fit both of Ras and Noddy in the team. Look at the last round against Port, Noddy was in the b22. Simply remove one of JOM/Fyfe to make room for Ras.

When Young rests forward, Noddy can rotate through to the centre.

I think all nearside wings need to be able to rotate a bit inside, hence why we've struggled to find a replacement for Acres. Not sure if Noddy has enough of a contested game for the role. We could see JOM pushed more forward and have Noddy rotate there I guess. Midfield will be interesting next year

I actually agree with this. But that's not what some people are saying. They're saying effectively he's going to be an genuine inside mid. Occasionally attending a CBA as an attacking option or going inside at a forward half stoppage is not the same as entering the full time inside mid rotations. The only way it could would be at the expense of our main three mids time and whomever takes ultimately Fyfes spot.
NOD has shown some more than handy out the front of the stoppage skills playing inside but aside from that he's miles off being primarily an inside player at AFL level imv.

NOD is not vying for an inside mid spot - at least not yet. He is vying for the Banfield/JOM/Johnson skinny side wing and in my opinion, if he can maintain or improve upon his form in the last 4 or so games, including the last game he played for Freo, he has gone past them.

Whether JLo agrees is another matter entirely.

NOD is similar to S Hill. Rotate from wing and into the stoppages. Offers a breakaway and burst. That’s the role he’s capable of

I see where you are coming from but with Hilly it was sort of the other other way round. He would start at each bounce on the wing or half back then swap on ball in general play. Whereas my impression was that on Sunday Driz was often starting at the centre bounce then swapping off ball immediately at the next phase. This seems to be supported by Nathan only having 10 contested possessions out of his 29 and 'only' 4 clearances. Whereas in the PF when Brodie didn't play it was 11/13/8.

If fatty cripps can win 2 brownlows then maybe we can make room for a slow mid

Ras needs to start the year at peel how he ended in the finals, measured decision making, not just racking up the footy
He won one, and his lawyer won the other one.

Noddy only played mid in his come back games this year. He previously had run as a wing man, basically on the same wing that Sharp took over.

Very similar actually. NOD won’t be in centre bounces, we all know that. He will definitely be coming in around the ground.
Just depends if the coaches want Sharp wide and NOD defensive again, just like JOM.
For NOD to work, he needs to be amongst the play

I always struggle envisioning Ras at AFL level due to his run of the mill turn of pace, he clearly wants in and obviously puts alot of pressure on himself, I had a light bulb thismorning, is it just the laboured gait or does Ras have shades of Michael Barlow 2.0 about him?

He's not quick but he's not Barlow slow.

Pre injury Barlow wasn't slow, it was a myth reinforced by his weird running style. I'm not saying he was Frederick quick, but he was quick enough

Ras is an interesting one. 4th year on the list, can he break into the secondary midfield?

Owns the ball in the WAFL, maybe better for him to get traded to a team with less midfield depth.
