Not saying go Mick Malthouse/Robert Walls style & rip a young kid to shreds, but there has to be some standard set & some stern conversations & non-negotiables even early on.I don’t think Yze is soft. What sense is there roasting a young team when we are rebuilding… better off encouraging them. If we were challenging in finals that’s the time to turn it up
Rioli arrived at the club in '82. I think it was 1986 when he wanted to go to Essendon but ended up staying. We haven't had a group of senior players head for the door at the end of this year since Wood, Raines and Cloke did at the end of 82 under Francis Bourke. Maurice Rioli tried to also and we held on to him.
It was Sydney. Eddelston offered him big money and he signed. We wouldn’t clear him so he sat out for a while before coming backRioli arrived at the club in '82. I think it was 1986 when he wanted to go to Essendon but ended up staying.
He changed numbers from 17 to 27 if I recall.
That’s true, just a shame so many people over look it start with the abuse on a first year coach. We saw what the impact of injuries had on clubs with better lists than ours had
How many games did blues win last 10w
Freo last 4w
Our injuries set in immediately after we beat Sydney , losing lynch Balta Taranto and Ross

You got no idea what the interaction is like in any case those style of coaches wouldn’t get anywhere near a coaching gig in the modern era , listen to what players value in a coach and it’s not some dictorial lunatic , nowhere near thatNot saying go Mick Malthouse/Robert Walls style & rip a young kid to shreds, but there has to be some standard set & some stern conversations & non-negotiables even early on.
Ground zero we managed Lynch & Dusty. Nank didn't play either. Round 1 Prestia hurt. Round 1 Gibcus & Young too?We saw what the impact of injuries had on clubs with better lists than ours had

Every year clubs would show interest in likes of Bolton and others , while we were serious we’d put up the shutters , that’s no longer the case and it’s equally in our interests in fact it would be remiss not too trade them out . I’m more concerned that’s it’s our worst year in the history of the club and rioli and Bolton baker played literally every game , so no great shakes if they leaveWe haven't had a group of senior players head for the door at the end of this year since Wood, Raines and Cloke did at the end of 82 under Francis Bourke. Bourke was a mistake; the players didn't respect him as a coach and it resulted in 30yrs+ of pain. Let's hope history doesn't repeat but so far its going the same way.
Bolton, Dusty, Baker, Rioli & Graham all exiting has to tell you something is not right at the joint. Even Spud and Terry Wallet managed to hold on to our best players. Only Brad Ottens pee'd off when Spud was in charge.
Listening to Kingsley's press conference he always seem just dour & too serious and hard on his players. that will tire out a group.
I feel like you need a good balance between compassion & edgey. I feel like Yze is too soft well he has been.
Kingsley is the complete opposite, I honestly reckon guys like Chris Scott, Craig McRae & Dimma before he lost his mind is the perfect balance in modern coaching.
I'm not sugar coating anything. Players move clubs all the time and it seems like people are using them leaving us as a means to pot the senior coach and suggesting that things aren't great within the club, when I don't believe that to be true.GC was a basket case at the time. Same same u reckon?
I’m sick of the sugar coating over a bunch of selfish players exiting when things get tough. It’s pathetic
IMO Yze has gone about things well as a 1st year coach. He has built relationships with the playing group so that when he does come down on them they know that it's not a personal attack on them. Coaching now isn't like how it was in the past when coaches could yell and scream at the group with impunity. IMO we will see a less forgiving demeanor from him in 2025 as the majority of the group will have an understanding of how we're supposed to play, but it will still be balanced as we integrate the draftees into the side.Listening to Kingsley's press conference he always seem just dour & too serious and hard on his players. that will tire out a group.

For the most part younger player thrown an opportunity showed signs of improvement and others in system for a couple of years eg hugo and mansell and even mrj all showed their best footy so far , good signs when we put some genuine top end talent onto the list that includes prime moversIMO Yze has gone about things well as a 1st year coach. Somewhere in between yea , but what hinkley did the other night has likely harmed his coaching prospects at afl post port , looked very Robert wallsish that moment , as in arrogant tosser tyrant , wouldbt get past r1 of the interview panelYeah now we have to baby players like children who can't cop any form of criticism. Gone way too hard the other way.
Dunno bout too soft on players more so our game plan wasn’t that grinding intensity that successful finals teams played more possession style low on tackling , solid in HA fell apart in heat of a final , 2017 the switch was flickedBefore 2017, everyone here thought Dimma was too soft on the players.
Turned out it was actually the other way.

I'm not saying it isn't happening but when you see the way we played this season injuries aside, I thought the standards poor. How do you know that’s not happening behind closed doors? Just because you don’t see it on camera doesn’t mean it’s not.
