As the glorious journalistic skills of rucci alerted us to in the Advertiser this morning the rift between Andrew McLeod and Gary Ayres was quite prolific.

Don Scott's brief tenure as coach of South Adelaide provided some juicy gossip.

Stuff along the lines of 'which team he played for' reportedly led to his sacking/resignation.

Does Don work for Devine Homes too? Is that him in the helmet fighting the war against rent?
or is he the dreaded rich landlord??
either way he is a great big pair of clown pants.

Don Scott was a breath of fresh air on the radio stations last year. The way he put the interviewers back in their boxes. He reminded me of Bob Hawke in his ACTU days. Like him or not, he was entertaining. Perhaps Hawthorn members were less appreciative of the entertainment value than the rest of us.

Scott was described as a break glass in case of merger (Emergency) type of identity but when it comes to the day to day operations tends to put people offside and making working relationships difficult.

Does anyone know about the Ken Judge - Don Scott working relationship?

I think it was very strained. Judges' amazing revelations about Don suggesting they tank games certainly intimated some bad blood.

That would have cut to the core of the big ruckman.

Bit like Dermie is Don. Sensational as a player but needs to know when to leave thier involvement to great former player only.

As Fox Channel would put it:

People are saying that there has been some very serious in-house fighting over at Crowland.

Apparantly there are a few bruised egos amongst some of the 'older' players and punches have been thrown...

well the rumour that had been passed along my way about modra leaving was that when he was sent to the defense against melbourne in the final in 98 and performed shockingly, ben hart took him to task in the rooms afterwards. Mods apparetnly took a swipe at harty and blight intervened with mods clocking him one. Blights response was that mods would never play for the crows again and he never did. But only rumour.

There were also some salacious rumours about Modra and the coach's daughter floating around, too.
