There's been a fair bit of discussion on this matter in the past. My understanding is that Kempy came down to training to assist with skills, but the sport scientists wouldn't allow the players to do additional work. Kempy got frustrated and stopped coming down. Though he remains a mentor to a few players, including Masten.

If anyone can correct that info please do so.

I can confirm this to be completely true.

However despite convincing Bassett to join them North had to do a 180 on the deal, after they negotiated an accepted contract with Bassett they then rang him to inform him they wouldn't be able to afford to sign him at the agreed price and instead asked him to come for half the agreed value. This value is believed to be around the same figure that Bassett is on now in the SANFL.
If this is true get on board: WC

Disagree with this so much, completely overrated player........
That's your prerogative but I doubt you would find many that would support your view. He would buy and sell any of our current mids. You cannot be overrated when you have a record such as his.

West was good for his time, but in the current day where you need to be able to hit targets consistently he might not be rated so highly as he wasnt the best at that from iirc. He was an accumulator for sure, but his disposal efficiency wouldnt of been that great I would say.

We should have looked at Dyer in some developmental role: Are we sleeping on the job again.
Claremont Colts coach Ben Dyer was also announced as the Roos' new development manager, taking over from John Lamont.

Dyer, 35, spent a season with the Brisbane Lions Academy in 2011, before leading the Claremont under-18s to a premiership this year.

Where is Harvey at? What about Laidley? Laidley they say is a gun game day coach! Gary Ayers?
Important I think that Simpson has some experience around him.
Any WAFL coaches ready to make the next step?
At the end of the day the club will be onto it and things will fall into place. It is only because we left everything so late that we are in this position.

On the bolded bit - our two preferred candidates were both coaching teams that made the GF so we had to wait to interview them properly. Once the GF was over we moved quite quickly and had Simpson appointed less than a week after so I don't think there is much we could have done. Keep in mind also that Brisbane who sacked Voss before the season ended only appointed Leppitsch one week before we made our decision so it's not like an earlier decision on Worsfold would have sped up the process.

Wouldn't have an issue with Laidley and as a former premiership teammate of Simpson he might be a good fit. Not so sure about Gary Ayres as my opinion of him is that he's more of a lone wolf type of coach (just my perception so it may not be the case)

Anyone else feel we just cleaned house with Burns leaving ? hope its a good thing..dunno but.

Agree, sort of, well I guess I just don't know if it's good or not. On one hand he was in charge of our midfiled which has been horrible for many a year, maybe not completly his fault, but if it has been his idea to build the midfiled around Priddis, then I'm glad he has gone. I am no Priddis hater as many on here are but he is too one dimensional and needs to be depth at best these days with us having younger and more promising mids. On the other hand who knows how the players will actually feel about all thier coaches bailing on them, could make them feel a little like the coaches can see how bad things are and they are getting out while they still can and have them maybe wondering the same thing, it can't be great for the young guys to have all their senior figures at the club leaving at the same time.

I'm thinking the changes with potentially Bell coming in were too great for Burns to adjust to, that also big changes in the midfield are coming. Really its the only area we need drastic change imo, the rest of the ground is all top notch with our forwards and defenders right up their with the best and 2 elite rucks and just maybe Priddis may be seeing a different role next year.

What do u think Will Bell remain empassioned to Fremantle? or will he have mega passion for a mate and WC?

Joel Corey just retired, not sure if he'll have ambitions to return west or even to coach but I think he seems like a likely coaching type. Could be a good replacement for Burns. Thoughts?

Herald Sun reporting Mark Harvey is in Perth with his family and will be catching up with us to discuss a potential role....Wont be coaching the Bombers next year.

I'm no fan of Harvey but his value come Derby's would be invaluable. I think he would go the extra distance to beat the Dockers with how they treated him like toilet paper and Bell has turned down roles at Freo many a time so maybe he was always going to follow Simpson when he got a main gig somewhere seeing they are good mates.

Didn't help Brisbane against Freo this year. Plus i question how much an assistant coach can do to win a game, it's not as if they play footy even similar as to how they did under him.
