You want us to go cap in hand to a nearly bankrupt football club?

He should be cosying up to us in the real world. In this crazy world, Pyke is too weak to do anything but beg

If they’re nearly bankrupt then their position must have deteriorated pretty badly since their last financial report, which has them in a fairly comfortable position.

You dont think Pyke and the club have not sat down with Barich and Perth? Clearly what has been presented by the Eagles is of little interest to Perth.

Easy when you are a soft turncoat. Barich tells him to jump and Pyke asks how high

Based on what exactly?

There hasn’t been any deals done between the two clubs since Pyke took over.

Presumably you’re basing it solely on your apparent hatred of the bloke.

Where does your hate for Pyke come from?

He didn’t rip up the Lathlain Park turf (that the club doesn’t own and has no right to rip up) within 48 hours of taking over from Nisbett.

Thought this might fit here.... I was hoping at least one of them (Darling and Barrass excepted, of course) would have joined the BEagles.

Where former West Coast Eagles players landed ahead of the 2025 season

Mitchell Woodcock | West Coast Eagles

West Coast overhauled their list at the end of the season making an incredible 11 changes. But where are the players who have left the club playing in 2025? Find out here.

Jordyn Baker — East Perth
The rookie defender didn’t manage an AFL game in two seasons on the list despite showing some talent and speed. Baker has signed up to play for East Perth in 2025, where he was drafted from after 29 colts games in 2021 and 2022.

Tom Barrass — Hawthorn
The premiership defender was involved in one of the more high-profile trades of this off-season, landing at the Hawks. Barrass will team up with former St Kilda defender Josh Battle to lead the backline for the up and coming Hawks.

Coby Burgiel — Train On
Delisted after two injury-riddled seasons on the Eagles list, Burgiel is still holding onto his AFL dream at the Eagles. The speedy Victorian is signed as a train-on until Christmas, as he battles former Gold Coast-listed defender Sandy Brock for a spot on the list

Jai Culley — Casey Demons
One of the unlucky players to be let go by the Eagles, the No.1 pick in the 2022 mid-season rookie draft has returned to Victoria where he will look to restart his AFL career. Has signed to play with Melbourne VFL affiliate Casey which will allow him to train with the Demons.

Jack Darling — North Melbourne
The Eagles veteran has headed to Arden Street to finish his career where he will look to mentor the young Kangaroos outfit. A big move for the 298-game veteran who has spent more than a decade at the Eagles.

Luke Edwards — TBC
The son-of-a-gun has stepped away from football after concussion issues plagued his year. There is hope that after some time away from the game he will make a full recovery and may come back to footy again.

Andrew Gaff — TBC
One of the club greats pulled the pin on his 280-game career at the end of this season and is yet to reveal if he will play anywhere in 2025.

Jamaine Jones — South Fremantle
The speedster has signed with the Bulldogs who have gone on a massive recruiting spree. Jones has settled in WA and plays for the side where good friend Tim Kelly was recruited from as a mature-age star.

Josh Rotham — West Perth
Joins his brother Sam back at West Perth for next season. Josh will be a pivotal player under second-year coach Jason Salecic at the northern suburbs club.

Zane Trew — Swan Districts
Quickly signed with the Swans after being cut by the Eagles. The big-bodied midfielder has shown he is a star at WAFL level and will be looking to take the club a step further after a preliminary final appearance in 2024.

Alex Witherden — Queensland
The former Brisbane and West Coast defender had significant interest from WAFL clubs but it is believed he is moving back to Queensland along with his partner. There is yet to be an announcement on where he will play in 2025.

Unlike East Perth's financial mess which forced them into a alignment i think Perth are financially ok.
Some of their diehards would rather fold or stay down the bottom then align with the hope of success.
I have seen how the alignment worked at East Perth and it wasn't a partnership.
I am not sure lessons have been learnt.
Dockers have been a lot better in their alignment with Peel.
I wonder how their 115-83 member rejection of the 1995 plan to relocate to Kalamunda is viewed now? Good? Bad?

First, would Perth be more successful? (I don’t know but I’d have thought they wouldn’t be worse off.)

Second, it’s quite amazing to me that just 17 members voting differently could change the location of a 125 year old club. (And that less than 200 members were involved in the decision.)

It’s like some wonderful vintage car being powered by a wind up rubber band.

1995 is a long time ago. The Eagles were only 8 years old and the WAFL only a handful of years from getting almost 40k to the grandfinal

Surely the WAFL has only contracted from there.

With a new coach at the helm of the AFL team and bringing a new and updated game plan, playing style, would any of the new ideas/styles be also implemented with the Wafl team? We can already tell from the Eagles training there is a focus on fast paced turnover and pressure.
With some players going back and forth between the teams it would seem prudent to have a somewhat similar playing style but is it viable or could it fall apart disastrously in a lower level?

Burgiel has been officially farewelled, which I assume means he’s not hanging around to play for the Beagles.

SSP spot now down to Brock and some other person they’ll bring in after Christmas.

You started bagging him out within about a week but sure, you’re basing your criticism purely on results.
Well yes, he is to also be judged on his agenda and plans. Why we need to wait for him to action anything is beyond me. I’m assuming when you go to an election you vote for no one because neither person has had time to do anything or something ?

When Pyke came in, he came in soft spoken, without a actual plan (which is why Simmo got 1 more year then he should have) and has followed this through with absolutely no core improvements in the product he is looking after.

The WAFL team is in its worst state ever, the coaching situation is in its worst state ever where we were not able to pick up a big name, the relationship between us and the AFL hasn’t improved and we have still taken a cowardly approach. How we didn’t get a priority pick this year is complete insanity and just shows a absolute lack of fight

I mean apart from the injury situation improving tenfold and getting rid of a balloon he has achieved very little/not enough to show we are going anywhere good.

Best thing to do is to look at this and not to wait for 10 years to judge someone’s impact, especially when we do not have this sense of time to wait for someone to get good at this thing. Let’s look at his agenda as well as what he has currently done . I have and it’s crap. His agenda is simply a man without a plan. Focusing on blowing out the birthday candles on the cake while ignoring the raging inferno in the next room.

90 per cent of the time in an election there’s an incumbent who’s had time to do something and a bunch of challengers who haven’t.

Also, 90 per cent of the time in an election the majority of voters have made up their minds on the spot whether they like or dislike someone.

For whatever reason, you made up your mind on Pyke from day dot. And you’re just getting further and further entrenched in that view. Making ridiculous claims like he gives Barich whatever he wants, when there hasn’t actually been any occasion of him giving Barich anything.

So in future I’ll treat your claims about Pyke like I treat your claims about having inside info - with an inordinate level of skepticism and criticism.

I never meant that. I said he has given everyone else what they want so why would this be different. He has taken the soft approach at every opportunity

I think everyone accepting us having zero priority picks from the last 3 years os absurd as an example. This is simply a final proof that he can’t and won’t fight for things. We saw the effect publically calling out AFL has with St Kilda and Josh Battle. We just need a guy with the courage to do the same. Two early 2nd rounders was genuinely club changing if we organised it but we didn’t cos Oscar Allen kicked a nice goal one day… just not good enough

How do you know what his agenda and plans were? The fact he didn't give you a call to run them by you, doesn't mean he didn't have any. With the amount of change that has taken place since he arrived, it is a bit ridiculous to say he didn't have an agenda and plan. Not everything is instant gratification.

The club fairly publicly took a position that they didn’t want a priority pick and wouldn’t ask for one. You can disagree with that position, but I don’t see how you can use it to argue that Pyke won’t fight for things.

He was fairly clear what they were. Keeping Simmo, trying to fix our WAFL performance issues, taking a hands off approach to football dept matters, looking to take members feedback on board with game day stuff. Few other things

He did outline plans, he just failed with them so people have chose to ignore them. He was very adamant about keeping Simmo after all and well that went well now didn’t it
