Culley be better in AFL side as a forward. Can't do much in a 100 point flogging. Same for Liam Ryan next week. Absolute pointless playing him in this team.

Yeah also size wise he is closer to Maric than Dewar. Don't mind it.

Well Harley Sparks had the equal top disposals with Gaff and Trew. Kicked a behind and had two tackles.

Lucassen goes alright, kicked 2 goals. The rest of the top ups are pretty trash.

They'll need a couple of games to get fitness and conditioning.

Same with Ryan I assume. Doubt we see any of them at AFL level for another 3 weeks.

Should be enough to be competitive against the side that finished 3rd last last year (2nd last if not counting us)

Know we had players coming off injury etc but still. Needs to be a serious look at our coaching setups etc - are we trying too hard to play like the AFL side and it's coming at the expense of winning etc?

I think there’s something to that.

Winning should be first, you don’t learn much getting flogged week in week out.

Good post, exactly right. More excuses for our club in this thread that are simply not very good at running their football departments.
Look within not try and lay blame elsewhere. 12 listed players and you’re not competitive says it all.

These posts are getting tiresome 12 eagles players plus three players who have afl/wafl/vfl experience.
that leaves several ammos and i think a few have played a few years at wafl level.
Has the club been lazy and recruited the wrong ammo players.
Last year East Perth recruited two players from ammo leagues in Raykos and Saunders who are good players.
Rather then relying on ammo players improving the beagles how about a few Afl listed players show the way.
I am not sure whether Sheed and Culley were on managed minutes or how fit they were but that is the problem with having a stand alone team in you can't play them in the ressies unlike Peel who have a ressies team.
In 2018 they finished 5th when aligned with East Perth in 2019 The beagles finished 4th what has gone wrong
Maybe there is something wrong with who they draft or the development of draftees.
I think if you join the Vfl you will get a belting anyway.
Couldn't get Waterman and Sumich to stay and Sam Rotham decided to play ammos rather than play for Beagles.
Clark went back to $ubi and West to West Perth. Does that tell you what decent players think about playing for the Beagles.
They want to play finals, Win Premierships and not play the occasional Wafl game when it suits the Beagles.

Running out of excuses now.

12 AFL listed, many of them young players yes, and i get managed minutes for a couple returning from injury... But it really needs to be more competitive than that.

I don't care about joining the VFL, i'd happily split our players back among the WAFL clubs like the old days again. I don't remember a consistent theme about it hindering player development back then.

Do it, let the young players join clubs that aren't a total rabble and potentially learn how to win and mature. Couple more games like this and we'll have to make the call to.... (cough)
