There’s a 4 minute video from Pyke that’s been emailed to members, presumably will be public shortly, summing up his first year at the club.

Apart from a brief mention about Worsfold coming on board to help out the coaches “across all three programs”, the Beagles did not crack a single mention.

Just further proof they don’t take it seriously.

It's in the media thread, It was also posted to the youtubes.

Watched it on you tube and he said about Woosha bringing much to the table to handle the 3 teams within the club. But that was all.
I don’t think manyAFL clubs would be talking about their alignment or reserves team.
From our point of view it would be a WAFL discussion more than a club discussion messaged to members by the CEO

Ok maybe, but we haven’t had one of those either. Not a single update about the WAFL side since their season ended, other than confirming Horsley was still coach.

Looks like Burgiel is signing with East Perth. Are there restrictions on our WAFL side which prevent us from accessing our ex AFL listed players?

No. There used to be a restriction on signing our players who’d done less than three years on our list, but that was lifted a couple of years ago. Even then, I don’t think it applies to Eastern States players.

The player that’s just been sacked from the eagles probably has his own restrictions not to have any loyalty to the same said club he was just sacked from…

McInnes, Brayshaw and Nelson are proof that trying to convince delisted players to stay with the Beagles doesn't have to completely be a lost cause.
Also the threat that they'll lose their club job if they don't play for them helps..maybe

That was a lot less successful, Waterman gave up his job to play for Claremont, Brayshaw gave up his rather than return from EP, and Sam Rotham decided to play amateurs.

Even though the WAFC has relaxed rules for recruiting delisted afl players /points it isn't working with delisted players either returning to their former WAFL teams.(J Baker, J Rotham, Z Trew).
Returning east (J Nelson, A Witherden) or if they are staying here preferring to play with a traditional WAFL team ( Jermaine Jones, Trey Ruscoe, Jason Gilbee and Coby Burgiell ).

I am surprised that the Eagles don't ask for a player swap in compensation.
Trey Ruscoe and Jermaine Jones have gone to South Fremantle.
Not sure if Caleb Datson is compensation but you would want another player.
Jason Gilbee is at East Fremantle and it looks like Coby Burgiel is at East Perth.

So at the moment we have recruited Thomas Baldwin-Edwards (the hyphen) who has played 46 Wafl league games.
Caleb Datson (54 wafl league games). Max Mumme (2 wafl league games) and Jack Walsh (0 league games 60 reserves games)
It isn't exactly elite recruiting.

Ruscoe and Gillbee were never delisted, they were signed to the WAFL side for one year then decided not to stay.

Nelson ended up staying for two seasons after being delisted before going home this year. Similarly Brayshaw (in 2021) and McInnes (in 2020, before the Beagles pulled out of the comp due to Covid) signed on as purely WAFL players after being delisted.

So historically we’ve been able to convince the odd player to stay. This year there’s been a mass exodus of talent with no commensurate replacements (with the greatest of respect to Thomas Edwards Baldwin). I can only assume that’s due to some combination of a lack of recruiting effort, and players in general deciding that the Beagles are a lost cause.

The Eagles recruited both Ruscoe and Gilbee to play for the Beagles.
If they were playing for a traditional club there would be a transfer fee.
The Eagles don't need the paltry transfer fee hence a player swap would be more preferable.
