Yes, but to be fair I’m only basing that off the last week.
Fair enough.
I would half agree with you.
Until Pyke shook things up and added all that he has in development coaches etc. we were average for a few years.
I am waiting to see this pan out, but all of Woosha, Hurn, new development coach are really quality additions.

The WAFL side I have to agree, we have been lacking resources, players, development etc., but looks like the coaching side has been boosted significantly and would expect better development of our AFL listed players.
Players added to the WAFL team has been very underwhelming to say the least.

Not that we know how much work has gone into this and the knock backs we received.
I would hope that come 2026 this is a bigger priority for the club.

Ok I got it wrong, West Perth have more coaches in total. They have nothing however in experience compared to the WCE coaching line up.

Now how is the WCE footy department going?

I'm struggling to understand your argument. On one hand, you are complaining that our football department is shit. And on the other hand, you don't think we need to be putting more resources into our WAFL team? How does that work out?

Or maybe we should just replace everyone? And by "everyone"... in the WAFL context, that appears to be one person. So basically, we need to get rid of Kyal Horsley? Who has only been in the job for... 1 season?

I get it.... we're shit. But what changes are we supposed to put in place to fix our WAFL team, when there are so few resources to work with?

Sparks is back this week and the Hyphen will make his debut. He has some Wafl league experience so it will be interesting to see how he goes.No sign of Caleb Datson as yet.

I didn’t actually realise he didn’t play last week. He was originally named, as was Ewing who also has some league experience and is also back this week.

No I am saying I have been to WAFL games and there seems to be a cast of thousands looking after the Eagles seconds so i am not sure we are under resourced on game day.

I think we need more players and we are not recruiting any. Points and salary cap to burn not being used.

It's not a lack of resources, there is heaps of great footy people out there. Why are we not getting them?

Depends who you ask.

According to the WAFL site, WCER hosts Peel at 12.10pm tomorrow, another user posted the named teams which include 11 AFL-listed players for the Beagles:

If you ask the club, no, there’s absolutely nothing happening.
Hope one of the users here will still show up and provide us with some updates.

And he went so well they thought they’d give him another week running around for the Beagles
I’m not sure debuting a kid on a balmy Sunday in Queensland against the reigning premiers when we’re probably going to lose by 30,097 points is a great idea

Better to play against the reigning WAFL premiers on a scorching hot Saturday in WA when we're probably going to lose by 30,098 points?

At least no one will see that one

Good on him for being positive, but I don’t know how rigorous the recruiting drive could have been when it yielded one ex-Subi player who’d been at Kalannie and a handful of others who weren’t getting league games at their other clubs.

I just don’t see where the improvement is going to come from. The AFL listed players that will spend most of their time in the reserves are the young developing kids.

Is there any reward to collecting wooden spoons in the WAFL?

Any good draft picks?

Surely the AFL can throw us an assistance package this year if we lose our shit given our reserves side has collected 4 wooden spoons at the same time as the Eagles being bottom 3.

On another note, just want to give Batman a big rev up for getting back into the ruck!

Want to see him down back so hopefully Livingston gets back in the team asap.
Did Flynn fly with the afl team? I assume he did or it would’ve been known he was out before final teams dropped yesterday. If not you’d think he would and should be playing today

Anyone heading down to MRP today to have a look? 11 AFL listed players suggests it could be some rough viewing given the state of our top ups.

The 23 named + HJ and Flynn were seen at the airport, so it sounds like on Allan will be added to the team sheet to make it 12 AFL list players.

Could get ugly.

12 is a decent amount compared to some of our games in the past. Remember we had 3 players in some games and that included cat B rookies.

Sure, 3 is just useless. It has no value to us having a WAFL game with 3 AFL listed players, given the only reason the team exists is as a development tool.

12 players in 2019 would see us beat most teams in 2019, but in 2025 12 players on the bottom of our list are kids. Hope for the best but based on recent results. 12 AFL listed players is about a 10 goal loss.

Wish it was televised. Will have to check in for updates.

Yes worrying. We don’t have an over abundance of experience in the Eagles - and it might be wise to leave some of the more experienced players in until the ‘firsts’ can play to the new game plan a bit.

But, for example, I’d think we could probably better use Cripps in the Beagles. Pity about Sheed.

And I’d almost be saying to regularly underperforming more experienced players ‘being best 23 won’t get you selected, you need to be best 17(?) because we need experience in the Beagles to develop our next level players’. One step back to get two steps forward?

That said, if a player shows no ability or desire to be a mentor, or, their ego won’t let them play reserves, then there’s a problem.

But that’s the type of hard decisions necessary for a club demanding - and used to - success.
