The Eagles doubling down on the bullshit:

How is it bullshit? Hardly the first apparel supplier to not actually product stuff with their badge on it...

Yeah aren't Puma and Adidas player issues made by some Victorian company? (forgot their name)
Sekem have made guernseys over time on behalf of Asics, Piping Hot, Skins, Adidas etc
I wouldn't be surprised if Sekem eventually sell off the naming rights with their Freo apparel to another brand like they've done so much in the past

The retail Castore design is what I would call a Castore guernsey - if Sekem had produced something resembling that then fine. But to slap a Castore logo on the standard Sekem template, which can be seen in full glory on the team down the road, and then put out a puff piece video claiming these are "Castore", whilst selling a completely different looking retail version in your team store, is bullshit.

To be fair I'm 99% sure that WCE and Freo have the same owners, so it's not that big a deal anyway.

Also i don't mind Sekem myself, just don't like the collar.

Are they still selling the "castore" replicas in the stores? Edit: they are, that's ridiculous, it now looks nothing like the PI

If I'm not mistaken that would be GameDay apparel who also used to put the monograms on the Nike Carlton jumper. They used to go by Hot Sub until a few years ago.

Design is the same, only real difference is the collar and cuffs piping and style, which really isn’t all that different to NBA selling Swingman jerseys that are a completely different cut to the authentics. Sure, it’s not ideal, especially for a “big club”, but it’s nothing to lose sleep over.

Fair enough, do you think sekem would revisit the collar to make it more like the public sale version?

We may have different definitions of design, it sounds like you mean the wings, Eagles logo, sponsor logos etc. I mean the template design, and they are completely different. Otherwise you could say all guernseys across all teams are the same except for collar and cuffs and we could shut this board down. Throughout our history, and I imagine that of the other teams in the AFL, the template design between retail and player issue generally features the same template design (same style collars, cuffs, stitching etc). I expect the actual Castore player issues wherever they are, have the same collar and yellow seam stitching as the retails.

It's just a bit disappointing - I was excited to see what Castore could deliver for the player issues and turns out it was nothing. To not have the player issue and retail resemble the same template design is also disappointing.

The actual Sekem "Castore" guernseys look pretty good, stripped away of all the surrounding context, it's a great guernsey, I prefer it over the ISCs.

Wasnt It Castore that slapped that out sourced an EPL sides gear to a local school uniform manufacturer?

Yes, Fruit of the Loom school jumpers with Castore and Rangers logos heat pressed on.

Also shipped pro versions of the kit (made in China) instead of cheaper replica versions (made in Turkey).

"In order to meet both the high demand and short timescales required for an August release, the decision was taken to outsource the manufacture of this product to a third party, which is not common practice for Castore.

LOL.

I wonder anyone at the club did any research into them. Wing on wings look cool but

Paywalled article on The West now. Probably be in tomorrow’s paper.

Article confirms most things in this thread

1. Guernseys are made by Sekem
2. Castore delivered Guernsey, but they did not fit and Eagles did not accept them
3. Castore called making AFL guernsey "a steep learning curve".
4. Deal is still in place and Sekem Guernsey's are interim temporary arrangement.

Sekem also made mid/late 90's Adidas player issue items.

Made the back cover today.
