I think the top 4 and 5 of the top 6 are 21 or younger - that's really promising for the future. Well done Ella - outstanding season
Yep! I've been talking about how fking exciting it is for us over the next 4 Or 5 years and beyond and we're still yet to see how far they will develop! The Wakfers, Schillo, Rowls, Chuck, Bluey, Roberts, Rentsch, Kavanagh and Cleaver all spring bloody chickens, plus whoever we get out of this years draft 💅

Bakker polling so high was a surprise, not because she didn't do some great things for a first year player. Not the classiest player but clearly cracks in, and I loved seeing her niggle and fly the flag. She must be following coaches instructions to the tee with her high pressure game.
Yeah I'm.in agreeance with you there mate, she definitely has a bloody go! Didn't rate her that highly though.

Hard to judge from the outside though, as we don't know what instructions she is playing to, or what expectations are placed on her.

Also, the team drops away quite quick after the top 8, so not a lot of competition for the bottom spots on the best player ranks.

She got some very specific assignments as far as run with roles went, plus her blocking and screening patterns, to create space.

When you follow the coaches instruction explicitly, you get recognition for that.

She freed up space , for others to work in and gave much of the assistance to allow our prime movers, to do their things.

Also brought a level of grunt and physicality to the mix, that we have rarely seen previously.

This will be a very very welcome in house rivalry if it eventuates 🥰 then we just need to lure Rowbottom over in a few years time when GC are still languishing down the bottom 🙏
Depends if we get Zippy. She's about equal with Ella for pure talent, I think.

Not sure how I feel.about giving up our first draft pick for anyone other than Charlie Rowbottom.

The Eagles currently hold pick six in the AFLW draft after finishing 13th under first-year coach Daisy Pearce. But it’s understood that West Coast is willing to trade out their first round selection to acquire established talent with the likes of Edmonds and Geelong forward Darcy Moloney among those on its radar.

West Coast’s ruck roulette is starting to take shape as talks pick up with out-of-contract tall Sarah Lakay.

As has been said, we have a young list.

Trading in a very good established player makes sense

That said, it's the deepest draft yet, so they would need to be really good, not a solid second string player.

Not so many of them, but it's more than just Rowbotham.

I think they are trying to cash in on the Daisy factor.

I don't like it at all. So much talent in this draft, it will need to be a VERY good player to be worth the trade.

Maybe Daisy's fishing for a Rowbottom, and I guess it's worth dangling the offer out there, just in case. But anything less than that and all the credit Daisy's earned with me will be down the drain.

It doesn’t sit well with me if we sell of our first pick for an established player.
With the pick that we have there are several players that I would be thrilled to get one of.

So unless it’s an absolute gun and a young gun at that, trading the pick would be a big NO from me.

LOL

If this club trades away its 1st rnd pick just as the talent is starting to come through … I just don’t know anymore

Okay I was being somewhat hyperbolic by saying only Rowbottom but my point being that I would only be happy with very, very few players in exchange for our first pick. The insinuation from the article is that we would be trading said pick for Alice Edmonds or Darcy Moloney, I wouldn't be happy with that trade.
