My childhood memory may be failing me but didn't the shield and ING cup (as it was called) games get played in the same trip? Eg Tassie would travel to QLD and play both competition matches before heading off.

That was precisely how they managed those trips back then. A shield game with a One-Day Cup game either before or afterwards depending on scheduling. They could go back to that now if they wanted to with a shorter BBL.

I feel a fixture with 10 games and everyone playing each other twice is the fairest solution.

Poor second half of the day for WA, hopefully they can run though the eight wickets tomorrow for 100-150 leaving a target of 180-230. Though it's possible the wicket is getting easier to bat on, comparing day 2 to 1. Our tail went alight.
