Funny game cricket.
Jewell scored 87 in his first Shield knock of the season. If he been caught for zero yesterday, he'd have scored 137 runs total in his subsequent 14 Shield innings at a sub-10 average. And his place on the side would have had to have been in question as a result.
Instead, look where we are.

Don’t understand Tasmania’s logic batting as long as they did. Win, and we are effectively two games behind them and Victoria with two games to go. Now, we just have to bat out the day. I believe we earnt slightly more first innings points than Tas, so a draw and we are less than one game behind with two games to play.

I mean, we should, with the talent they have. The wicket must also be getting easier to bat on. How else do we explain our tail batting more solidly than both WA and Tassie’s top order, then Tassie plundering runs for fun?

Agreed, big hundreds by both would keep the pressure on international selectors, particularly after Renshaw's continued poor run.

Makes Tassie's decision yesterday even more perplexing. A wicket or two last night would have put some pressure on.
