Looking at the squad that has been picked for the second XI, I’d suspect our first team might look like this to begin with:

Bancroft
Whiteman
Goodwin/Cartwright
Marsh
Hardie
Connolly
Inglis +
Kelly
Jackson
Couch/Gannon/Stobo
Rocc

Second XI:

Wyllie
Fanning
Short
Turner
Curtis
Critchell
Holt +
Agar
Richardson
Vernon
Beardman

Unavailable: Morris (managed), Paris (calf), Haskett (back), Green (back)
I'd say Cartwright plays and Goodwin competes with Connolly

Just a quick one why has Phillippe been picked for the Aussie A squad???

that 50 he scored for NSW must of been pretty good
Who would you pick instead?

He may well be the third best keeping in the country currently behind Carey and Inglis

Not a glowing endorsement for our stocks

As a pure keeper I'd have Harper, Doran and Peirson now

PIERSON IS IN THE SQUAD TOO?

Missed Pierson's name there

But selectors will be seduced by what Phillipe is capable of with the bat, even though he hasn't done that in red ball cricket in a long time

From The West Australian last night:

West Australian cricket bosses will sit down with Cricket Australia staff on Thursday to map out a plan for Lance Morris and Jhye Richardson’s summer, with the prospect of a red-ball return still on the table.

WA Cricket officials are keen for both of their pace twins to feature in the Sheffield Shield before the Big Bash League break in December and January, The West Australian can reveal.

It is also expected Aaron Hardie, who is also on a Cricket Australia contract, will be in the mix to play WA’s Sheffield Shield game against Tasmania — which starts on Sunday — as a specialist batter.

Morris missed Sunday’s one-day win over Queensland with a quad issue, but is tracking for a return in a 50-over clash with the Tigers on October 25.

The tearaway fast bowler has spent time as a reserve to Australia’s frontline quicks across the past two home seasons. There is an expectation Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc may need to be rotated at some stage during the series with India.

Richardson has battled persistent injuries across the past few seasons and didn’t play after Christmas last summer.

He was the player-of-the-match in the win over the Bulls with 3-36 and the prospect of him playing club cricket for Fremantle on Saturday is also on the table.

“I will probably have a bit of a better idea around what they’re thinking with some of our group bouncing out of the first round of shield cricket and the early parts of the summer,” WA’s head of cricket Kade Harvey told The West.

We will have a good chat with them tomorrow and probably have a little bit better understanding of what the broader picture looks like with him (Morris) and Jhye in particular.

“We are certainly keen for both Lance and Jhye to play shield cricket at some point over the next little bit, certainly before the Big Bash starts.”

There has been a strong focus on keeping Richardson’s loads up while he is fit. That dates back to winter training spells in Queensland and an off-season tournament in Darwin.

Harvey said left-arm quick Joel Paris is “touch and go” to play his first red-ball game since last year’s shield final. Paris injured his calf at training last month and missed last week’s matches in both formats.

From The West Australian last night:
If fast bowlers being managed to within an inch of their lives prevented injury I would be all for it but it doesn't seem to. Sometimes it feels like it would be better to let them bowl and if they do hurt themselves then maybe adjustments to bowling actions are required. Writing that it does sound overly simplistic but maybe we're trying to overthink things too much.

From The West Australian last night:
Well reading that seems like WA has had the shits with CA...and rightly so and wants the lads to play. They have been basically "managed for 3 years".....why ??? to carry the drinks ??? to not get picked in an Aussie squad ??

If you are fit FFS just play ...you are a long time injured...just look at poor green dog

I personally would have been looking at Jhye and Morris to be looking at playing in this pointless Pak ODI series .....and have the big three go back through the shield instead.....but the big 3 don't want to play shield cricket
